What's new

(9-8) Kings @ (8-9) Jazz - Gamethread

Did you not watch last season?
I did and it was an incredible ride but I don’t believe that happens again. Teams have figured out how to negate The Gobert effect and we aren’t surprising anyone. Hope things improve but something has to change. No way we win it all this year anyway so we see what we have before this summer and go from there. Everyone saying this guy is trash, that guy is trash but without minutes how do you know. Had Mitchell not had extended minutes who knows where he is now in his progression.

yup so after all this time we now know that Rubio isn't any better than what his career stats say he is. He'll just have the odd hot month or two toward the end of each season. He's getting killed by other guards.

Give someone else extended minutes and see if they improve. Fire Snyder Trade Jingles to the NBL

The game can be summed up in the 4th quarter, where the Jazz manufactured open looks from 3 that were missed. Exum missed an open corner 3, Burks missed one, Crowder missed one or two. These were open, high-quality looks. The game is on the line, you get a guy an open 3-pt shot, he's got to make a higher percentage. That's the difference.

When the Kings got open looks, they knocked down the shots. Bogdonovich and Bjelica put us away. The Jazz contained everyone else.

I'm quoting myself here, but here's the thing--if Rubio is your PG and he isn't a threat to take over the game offensively in the 4th quarter, then the guys he's orchestrating shots for have to be able to make those shots. You can't have a non-scorer at the point of attack AND have him feed guys who can't complete plays. You can only have one or the other.

An argument can be made that Exum doesn't fit our style of play. This side-to-side, blender stuff with multiple pick-and-rolls isn't necessarily playing to his strengths. He wants to run end to end and post guys up.

After Fox shot up the middle of the court coast to coast for a hammering dunk , Locke asked Boone if Exum could do that...Boone says Fox has better handles but yeah Dante could do the same …..Problem with that analysis is Exum has to pass the ball to Gobert to run the blender , Exum never gets to attack like Fox gets to do YET, If Jazz keep giving up 120 PPG their going to have to think about more minutes for Exum and Burks and Allen and manufacturing points through attacking full court to keep up with the teams blitzing the Jazz right now. Jazz are going to have a long frustrating season watching Rubio struggling against faster PG's

I don't know what the answer is. The Jazz do not have the personnel to be shooting nearly 40 three point shots a game but that's what happened tonight. A trade isn't an option. Rubio, Burks, and Favors are in contract years and overpaid anyways - they have no value.

Nah, we gotta keep Jingles, if nothing else for comic relief. I would like to see him play a few less minutes to save wear and tear on his body.

I like Mitchell's mid-range game. I'd rather see him cook his defender and hit 16-footers than watch us run a blender to get Crowder an open 3. I think Mitchell has learned a bit from Chris Paul. Those looks are always going to be there for Mitchell.
