A story about prayer

Nope, it's not okay. Once the mods put a stop to it, it stopped. Old habits die hard, I'm afraid, and I've got the infractions to prove it. That being said, I have no problem with saying things are "Gay" or calling a friend "Gay". As soon as a gay person tells me that that's offensive, I'll stop. As it stands, the four gay people that I know, and one relative, have unequivocally stated that it's not offensive. "Queers" on the other hand... I don't say that anymore.

Go back and read, bro. I said he had a point, and WHOA... I'm still alive! (PBUH) I do love to rip on people, but I can also take my medicine. How, exactly, am I getting my panties in a bunch? Nobody has taken any real shots at me in this thread, so why would I care? All I see is a few people who have a superiority complex and feel the need to tell everyone how wrong they are. The topper is that they're being dick weeds about it. Since when does telling people that they're jack asses equal getting my panties in a bunch?

Read the thread. Read the responses. The fact that he had to post that he would refrain from being his normal *** face self from here on out should tell you that you're wrong, as usual. But ya, I'll work on getting a grip post haste.

Good God bro. Change your tampon. And then try to show some intellectual honesty.

Did I see you down at Temple Square this year burning a pair of Magic Undies? I guess you have a point, Siro, and I really don't know what to tell you. I also see the irony of me telling you to respect other people. If you feel like you need to belittle and "hurt people's feelings" because you've thought about it A LOT more than anyone else and can justify it, then by Gordon, you go right ahead. Hail the the 2nd amendment. At the end of the day, you'll still be a douche. At the end of life, I'm pretty sure that the God that you profess to think is a lie, myth, and folklore will gladly accept you into his arms and probably say something like, "Man, you were a douche. Welcome home." At that point, I'll give you a high five, go grab franklin, and proceed to tip over an outhouse that Col*on is crapping in.

You're not getting it. I don't attack religion to hurt other people's feelings. I do it because I think religion is a bad thing. I don't mean bad for me. I mean bad for EVERYONE. Even those who say the only reason they don't go around killing people is their faith. It's bad for those people too. You act like the random categories you chose to respect are somehow morally superior. But how so? I can justify my position on any grounds you wish. Can you justify yours? There was an article on BBC about a rise if child sacrifice in Africa due to re-emergence of old faiths that promise compensation for the sacrifice. Would you have posted a comment complaining about the off-limit subject? Would you have justified those actions as moral? Or is that faith perfectly fine to criticize because you don't interact with any of the adherents.

I am perfectly comfortable with my morality because it stems from reasons I understand and support. I don't struggle with moral issues because if I turn out to be wrong about something, I have no problem changing my mind.

Oh, and I never burnt any magic underwear or anything like that. I've been in numerous heated arguments with all kinds of people. But I never performed the rituals atheists are so fond of.

If you consider your post that I neg repped to be an honest representation of LDS beliefs, then you need to get out more.

Perhaps I should have been more clear and said talking honestly about their religions (relatively recent) history. But you know the fact is that was preached from the pulpit by an LDS prophet. Sure, that no longer is generally believed by mormons nowadays, I know because I used to be one, but that just illustrates how silly the whole thing is! I mean, if Archie wants to use words written thousands of years ago to prove something about prayer, why can't I use words spoken merely a hundred and fifty years ago to do the same thing?

So the only people that matter are the people you know. Four gay people (or is it five, and don't know your relative?) are the ones that get to determine for YOU what's offensive or not.

And you're the one bringing up irony?

Hmmm someone must not be too secure in their beliefs if they are neg repping people who speak honestly about them. And an admin at that...

Don't fret. He neg repp'd me too. He does so every time I talk about religion. ;)

Out of curiosity, why would atheists do that?

I don't really know. Bitterness over religion's role in society I suppose. I personally don't understand the incredible efforts spent on trivial battles, like those memorial highway crosses.

Wow ...... at the risk of sounding like I'm riding the fence, my thoughts;

Siro - Not bad, whether I agree or not. I supported him 100% in this thread, whether I agree with any of it .. never really felt disrespected (heaven forbid).

Trout - He (like me) is an equal opportunity offender. Rarely misses an opportunity to show superiority. But this is, after all, a bb forum and his posts are mostly just said in jest, like mine. The fact that he took a different stance here should be permissable/understandable. Sometimes we all have that 'aha' moment we wake and get real.

Wes - I love you man, but you just jumped in here and there as it fit your agenda. Forgive me, but stfu.

Darkwing - My bad bro, but it seems you found an op to jump on Trout and find ample support. Do you have a stance here? Or just wanna jump in? Again, no disrespect intended.

Colton - Nice contributions (that's the rep power talking .. No. Your posts were spot on.)
