Aaron Gordon, a No. 5 Pick?

Gotta have somebody who can defend against LeBron, 'Melo and Durant if you want to go anywhere. Gordon has that potential. If he can develop an offensive game he's an A+ prospect. I'd still take Parker if I can get him, but Aaron Gordon has a legitimate chance to be special.

Impossible to know how Spurs draft with elite talent available (since they are never in the top of the lottery), other than getting Duncan and Robinson.

Actually think they would go Vonleh as the heir to Duncan.

If I recall correctly, the Spurs were offering George Hill to the Bucks, Warriors, and Jazz for the #10, #11, or #12 pick but weren't coveting Kawhi Leonard it was Klay Thompson. Once Klay was taken at #11, the Spurs then directed their focus to Leonard.

Fwiw and not sure if already mentioned, Kawhi was considered a limited shooter in college.

He shot 20% from the 3pt line his Freshman year, so he was really limited range wise. Can't really comment to much o his offensive game other than I remember he really relied on his physicality (rather than Gordon who relies more on athletic ability) in a weaker conference.

Leonard actually tested out really poorly in his vertical testing, surprisingly bad.

He was drafted off of length, defensive ability and upside. Sounds familiar.

Walt Perin, Pres. Of Basketball Operations, responds w/ his thoughts on Aaron Gordon

He has really, really improved his shot…He handled the ball pretty well. So, he was able to do a lot of the dribbling drills. He was able to do a lot of the going-off-the-dribble-getting-to-the-basket, ’cause he’s so explosive…[His improved shot] shows he has a willingness and a desire to get better in terms of shooting…I think the thing that we, that impresses me the most is how well they get through a full workout on our court, with our altitude. That impressed me. I thought he was going just as strong at the end as he was at the beginning…With his work ethic, his ceiling can be really high…He’s a very intelligent guy, and I think he is mature for his age. But you gotta remember, he had a brother who’s gone through this league. So, he’s learned through his brother.

I think the video, and tidbits of this interview has already been posted, but Jazz Fanatical had a full transcript, so I thought I'd share.

What I got from the post-workout interview is that he's addicted to Powerade. Dude has to take a sip every 15 seconds!

Seriously, he was very well-spoken and impressive. I have no problem with the Jazz taking either Gordon or Vonleh at #5.
