Why are so many posters wanting him with our first pick? Do you want a power forward that has no back to the basket game? Do you want him as a small forward that shoots 29.2 % from the three point line? Do you want him at any position when he has 1.5 assist to 1.4 turnovers, and shoots 45.3 % from the free throw line. What good does it do to have explosiveness when you can't shoot or pass? I just don't get the love some of you have for him.​
 
Not me, I'd rather have Exum, Randle or Vonleh before I start considering Gordon.


I would take Gordon over Smart though.


I've made my position pretty clear for months now.
 
For me it's defense, he's a good passer averaging 2 assists a game, he has decent handles and he's shown flashes on the offensive end which he can obviously stand to improve. He averages 42.2 from the line. Shooting is something nearly anyone can improve on as long as they have a good shooting coach. He'll definitely play the 4 on whichever team he ends up on. 35.6% 3 point shooting is good for a PF. Gordon is going to be a terrific 4 in the NBA. Book it bitches.

Pretty much proving that you have never watched him if you don't think he can pass.
 
Youngest player in the draft too iirc
 
His shot isn't broken, so there is a lot of room for improvement with his mechanics.

Shot a good percentage from deep on a little over an attempt per game, showing that he could possibly develop a spot up 3pt game good enough to keep defenses honest even if he never becomes a great all-around shooter.

Possibly highest Bball IQ of anyone in the lottery.
 
Because he's an athletic freak, good defender, and seems to have an "it" factor.

I didn't like his hesitation to shoot open jumpers at times last season. I believe his lack of confidence in the jumper is unwarranted.
I like his form. His shot looks good to me, he just needs to confidence to to pull it when he's open. That could be a factor in his pro career.

Another thing he's got to overcome is his free throw shooting. It's a nightmare to watch. He's going to get hacked on drives to the hoop until he can learn
to fix that. If he doesn't overcome, or it takes him a long time this will greatly limit his potential.

If he's able to over come those two key issues so that the defense has to respect his jump shot, and can't foul him on drives to the hoop. Look out.
He could become a monster in this league. The "it" factor seems to be there. He has the look, and feel of an elite NBA player. It's like he expects it.
He's been preparing for it all his life.

If we have Hornacek on our staff I might actually consider him...
 
Aaron gordon as SF because:

Superior handles
Incredible transition game
Great passer
Great hips, knees, height, weight, wingspan, and lateral quickness to defend the NBA SF's. Doesn't project nearly as well defensively as a PF.
Doesn't have a post up game. Works better facing the basket, cutting, slashing, curling, catching lobs, etc. can get from the 3 pt line to the rim in the time it takes defender to lift their left foot.
Shot doesn't look broken, just needs more practice. Flashes of a perimeter game.
We really need an SF w/ elite length. Hayward is far better defensively at the 2.

FT% is disconcerting, but I am confident it is something he'll be able to fix.

He is by far the youngest player in draft. Incredible upside.
 
He seemed like a terrific passer, leader, and had high defensive instincts in the games I watched of his. Not sure where your evaluations are coming from.

Sorry, I did not have a shooting coach and I shot free throws at 69% in the 9th grade.
