Adrian Wojnarowki: Paul to Lakers for Gasol & Odom

If Paul's wish is to be traded to either NY or LAL, then it's in his best interest to pick another team UNLESS he's already decided he doesn't care about the money and will sacrifice the 30 million flying the coop as a FA (not likely.) This process shouldn't be that complicated. Just privately give Demps a list of teams so he can do something realistic and beneficial for all involved.

LOL, the comish was gonna get lynched by the other owners if he OKed this deal, and N. O. fans would've torched his house...
Obviously, this new labor deal does NOT solve the NBA's competition problems. The comish could justify his intervention in this case because the Hornets are owned by the NBA.

The deal was not bad at all for New Orleans. Scola, Martin, Dragic, and the pick is a pretty decent haul. Not to mention Scola and Martin have real trade value if Demps wanted to flip them. I get the league putting their foot on it, but I'm starting to like Demps a little. The only glaring flaw in the deal was the absence of a high first, but you can't have everything.

NBA spokesman Tim Frank commented on the decision that the Hornets have pulled out of an agreed upon three-way trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Lakers.

"It is not true that owners killed the deal," said Frank. "It wasn't even discussed at the Board [of Governors] meeting. The league office declined to make the trade for basketball reasons."

ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that Chris Paul is furious about the NBA's decision to cancel an agreed upon trade to the Lakers.

Paul is exploring his legal options with NBPA director Billy Hunter.
