What's new

After Golden State/San Antonio/Cleveland are there any teams that are clearly better than the Jazz?

You know what, **** it, I'm gonna say there aren't any teams obviously better than the Jazz besides those three. A lot of this comes down to acts of God happening or not, but yeah. I'm digging the hell out of this. And as it comes to GS, I think the Jazz have as good a shot as any against them because their identity is going to revolve around their defensive dominance.

Truth. As of today, and where that puts us speculation-wise, this is very reasonable. The Jazz should be good. The match ups look intriguing.

1. Golden State
2. San Antonio
3. Cleveland
4. Clips
5. Toronto
6. Houston
7. Boston
8. Memphis
9. Utah
10. Minnesota/Portland/Phoenix/Heat/Hornets

There's no way I put Houston that high with ******* D'Antoni there now and there's no way Portland should be that low imo. Stotts is too good. Minny has proven nothing yet. And Phoenix????? LULZ.

If Exum makes a leap, we're healthy, and we gel relatively quickly, I think we can win 55+ games.

I will give Houston this, they are at lest embracing 100% they will be a run and gun shooting team. They will have an insane offense. Who knows how many games that wins them.

I'm not buying the love that Boston is getting. Last year they had about as good a year as you can have with those shooters. And they didn't address that this offseason. Even with Horford, I think the dominos could fall differently this time and they could backslide a little.

Stevens is great, though. So I could be on an island here.

I've been trying all morning to get a pic, but the girth and length are just too large. Maybe I'll go buy a selfie stick later.

You might want to go to a doctor. If your dick is literally too big to take a picture of it's probably not very useful unless you are sexing elephants.

I'd be surprised. Has anyone in the East gotten significantly stronger? Boston added Horford and that is bigger than what anyone else in the East has done unless you think Derrick Rose is going to travel back in time to when he had good knees or Dwight can regain his Orlando form.

Lowe sounds like he is desperate for the Jazz to be good. Like without us emerging, no one will be able to even annoy the Warriors in the West.
I think he's right.

Spurs aren't getting younger. Clippers seem to have maxed out. Twolves are a few years away.

It's all up to us.

All I'm saying is that it doesn't matter. Boston can't hustle their way out of the hole they're in versus Cleveland. CLE can play the exact same game against them this year and be pretty confident they can roll them.

The difference between the 3 and 6 or 7 seeds this year was minimal... and I don't see it as significant if BOS manages to come out of that same pile of teams. And, yeah, I also see a slight regression as possible.

If Memphis is healthy they could make some serious noise as well. But who's their SG these days?

Lance Stephenson/Tony Allen

As much as you might laugh at Lance, he was pretty good for Memphis. I think he is going to have a good career in Memphis if he stays there. He is the exact kind of player that thrives in Memphis.

The thing I'm curious with Memphis is how much time they actually put into developing Baldwin/Davis. In the past they have absolutely ignored playing rookies at all.

I still see Portland being better than us. And OKC could still be better, I doubt it but you never really know.
I see the west shaking out like this
GSW
SA
LAC
POR
MEM
UTAH
OKC
MINNY

Fair enough-

1. Golden State - duh
2. San Antonio - Gasol
3. Cleveland - didn't get worse
4. Clips - treading water
5. Jazz - deepest team outside of Golden State/San Antonio
6. Portland - Evan Turner isn't much, but lots of organic growth capable here
7. Toronto - Kept DeRozan
8. Boston - Added Al Horford - could sneak past Toronto
9. Atlanta - Dwight could make them better than this if he has it in him- we'll see
10. OKC - Still have an MVP level player and some pieces- this may go down if they trade him

Putting the Jazz at 5th in the best is extreme homerism AT THE LEAST. Everyone under the jazz on that list is realistically better than the Jazz.

EDIT: and Memphis isn't even on this list (who is also better than the Jazz).

Not entirely relevant here, but the Heat are losing Deng and Wade from an already thin rotation. They're heading near the bottom.
