Just an FYI for everyone, if AK wants to come back into the league, we could still S&T him if the opportunity exists.
Not sure what might be out there for him, but could be another asset.

heard that on locke's video cast today, but it's actually not true.

the new CBA revised the rule around sign-and-trades to prohibit that type of trade. now, for a S&T to be allowable, the player has to have played the previous season with that team. they're trying to close the loophole that allows teams to S&T guys that have been out of the NBA, like keith van horn.

so the jazz could still sign him with bird rights, but they can't use those bird rights to S&T.

We need a good SF, and can possibly sign Kirilenko for just over the mid-level exception (whch he is certainly worth). Why trade him?

i agree with this, too. i have tried to hold back on being the first person to say it out loud, but i think at some point the jazz need to think about the option of bringing back AK. our wing positions are EXTREEEEMELY thin right now.

and for the record, i'm not even 100% sure it will take more than the MLE. brooklyn could mess that up though, if they strike out on DW, DH, etc.

I'd take AK for just over the MLE. Flame away.

I want players with court vision and heads-up team defense abilities.

You better get on the phone with KOC right now, 'cause he listed AK's bird rights as an assett last night.

well they are as asset if they want to sign him. they just aren't an asset if they want to use them in a trade.

To qualify for a sign-and-trade, all of the following must be true:

The player must re-sign with his prior team -- a team cannot include another team's free agent in a sign-and-trade.
The player must finish the preceding season with that team (deals are no longer allowed that sign-and-trade players who are out of the league, such as the sign-and-trade that sent Keith Van Horn from Dallas to New Jersey as part of the Jason Kidd trade in 2008). The player cannot be a restricted free agent who has signed an offer sheet with another team (see question number 43).
Starting in 2013-14, the team receiving the player cannot be above the "apron" ($4 million above the tax level) after the trade1.
Starting in 2013-14, the team cannot receive a player in a sign-and-trade if they have used the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception (see question number 25) that season.
The trade must be completed prior to the first game of the regular season (sign-and-trades are not allowed once the season begins).
The player cannot be signed using the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, or any exception that cannot be used to offer a three-year contract (see question number 25).
