Al Jefferson to the Rockets..

Someone said Jefferson just moved to Charlotte.
Just a coincident?
Why move anywhere till you find out who you are signing with?
Charlotte has an NBA team.
They need a scoring center and have the money.
Thought no one could even talk to each other till July 1?

Yes, please. Anywhere but here. He might actually be a decent role player in Houston next to Harden, but would get a lot less touches there with Harden taking most of the shots. It would be interesting to see Al play without being the focus of the alfense.
fixed

Al has a ton of value in this league next year-
The team that will win the tank war must have an Al Jefferson type.

No reason to take the article seriously. At the very end he says imagine the possibilities of Harden and Jefferson running the pick n roll. He obviously knows nothing about Jefferson.

Any team interested in advanced research and analytics isn't very interested in Al.

I have been saying ATL for Al, but Charlotte makes sense. MKG and Bismack Biyombo can't score, and Al can. He might be enough to move them up to like 25 to 29 wins each season.

I would REALLY like a 1st from Charlotte, they take Al, the Jazz take Ben Gordon for 1 yr 13 million. Maybe swap lottery picks?

I doubt it, Al with Favors sucked on defense, and Favors is a better defender than Asik. Al is so bad on defense that he would be on a below average defensive team even if he were paired with Bill Russell.

Agree that Favors is better than Asik, but they have Harden. We had Foye. Harden is a legitimate scorer who can take most of the burden, draw defenses and let Al be more of a second option. Al was the first option here.

Favors is not better than Asik. He has got potential to be better but right now Asik is the better player. He can run without breathing in 2nd fastest tempo as being 7 footer, staying on the court over 30 min without foul problem, averaging double double in every match without using any ball, rebounding in crazy rate ( 3rd in league, 2nd in percentage) and creating perfect defensive difference even though he's playing with really bad perimeter defensive players. He's one of the best post up defenders but also pick n roll. His lateral quickness, smartness and timing is just rare.

And for Al jef, i think he can not be the answer for the Rockets due to his motor. Houston is playing small ball, run run system with sharp shooters + perfect goal keeper Asik. They look for Howard if it does not happen, a PF who can stretch the floor for Harden and Lin. Millsap can be better player for them.

The issue is that a lot of people think that who can block the most shots determines who is a better defender among big men. Asik is a heck of a defensive player. That is why he got into the league in the first place. Houston's biggest need is at the 4 right now. They have some young guys who may be good, but not right now. They would be paying Asik a lot of money to sit behind Jefferson or Howard.

If Howard comes, for sure Asik's gone for salary cap situation. Howard can leave 30 mil dolars by going to Rox but the tax issue in Houston is so much better so it makes equal in cumulative total. A trade between Lakers-Rox can happen. Asik+Lin+Parsons+Picks for Howard+ trashes. But if they can not sign with Howard, they will target Josh smith, Millsap may be Love for PF. They have locked their roster minus PF. Asik, PF, Parsons, Harden, Lin.

I think that this is the answer. I don't believe that Al Jefferson is a Morey guy due to his low free throw attempts considering how many and what type of shots he takes, specifically at the price he will command.

I do think they will heavily pursue Paul Milsap, depending on his pricetag.

Let me ask you, since the Jazz need a PG and have oodles of cap space to spend, how would you feel about sign and trading us Milsap (3 years - 27 million - 8,9,10) for Thomas Robinson and Jeremy Lin?

Al in Houston makes a lot of sense both from a player mix and a coaching standpoint. Good move for him IMO. And it makes the hated Rockets better.

You're right, Asik is currently better than Favors, but Favors has more upside, IMO and the disparity is less than you suggest. If you look at their stats since the all star game, Asik has better reb, fg% and less to. Favors has better pts, ft%, blk, ast and st all in less minutes (not all of which is due to foul trouble, it's partly due to Ty trouble). Our perimeter defenders aren't much better defensively.

The Rockets would have to be NUTS to do that trade. Howard is a headcase and a chemistry problem. Jeff would be a better option for them because he would be playing PF and be the low post scorer they need.
