Problem with the Celtics is they believed paying Garnett 3 years for 1 year of good production, another of maybe, and a third as a Garnett bonus and nothing more, combined with a requirement to stay loyal to Pierce.... they backed into a corner going all in.

Trading Pierce and/or Garnett out of loyalty to a championship contender is their only out. Similar story with the Knicks bet on Chandler and Stat, except they might luck into enough to trade A'mare with other pieces.

Rondo stays or they suck and piss off their next two highest paid players.

Agreed. I said a month and a half ago the Celts should trade Pierce to a team who is really going for it all this season. Garnett's worth little to teams imo. But Pierce could be a great second option and closer for some teams. The Clips makes a lot of sense because they're already right there to win it all. But I don't think they can without someone like Pierce. That said, that may be too many chefs in the kitchen too. Memphis (for Gay) may make the most sense. You get out of Gay's contract if you're Memphis and can legitimately contend for a couple years with Pierce. Obviously others would have to be thrown in to make salaries work but to me, Pierce is maybe thee best name that should be floated out there.

So is he good enough to throw in the GSW pick if not the Jazz' own as well? Those picks are getting more useless every game anyway. Sap's expiring, choice of Watson/Foye/Tinsley,#14-18, #20-24 for Bledsoe + filler?

Yes (probably).

I think Millsap, one first, and Tinsley could get it done (with Odom returning to them). I recognize the short-term nature of the move, but I really believe they are one piece away. You don't jeopardize that for a backup PG when there is VERY little chance CP goes anywhere. After all, the best way to keep him is a deep playoff run.

And LoL at the CP-Dwight super team ****. Griffin is already better, imo, because of what he can do on offense (and his D is improving).

I think it's close. That seems a bit rich to me, but not sure we'd do any better anyway .. and it would take that much, imo, to get a deal done anyway.
 
It would be nice to see the front office willing to take that risk!!! If Bledsoe is available, we should be willing to give that much for him!!
