Alec Burks Highlights vs. Wizards

Thanks again prodigy. Burks put together a nice game there and hopefully Coach will give him more minutes on the strength of this outing.

prodigy, i dont know you but i love you. i missed the game and my first thought after checking the box score was "i really hope prodigy makes an alec burks highlight vid from tonight"

Love this kid. If he can consistently knock down that curl shot watch out. All of his defenders are going t o be sagging thinking he is going to drive so it should be a open look. I know its opposite to the Jazz offensive philosophy but every time this kid gets the ball I just want him to drive and create because he usually finishes or gets to the line.

His ability to drive, contort his body, and get off some crazy shots is very wade-esk. Not to mention how often he initiates contact and gets to the FT line. Very "Flash" like. Hopefully he keeps getting minutes.

Hey zross - I'm going to the Ohio State Michigan Game today. Ohio State is obviously the better team - more size and athleticism, but you never know. Hoping for a competitive game and a chance to keep the winning streak at Crisler going.

Great to see Burks do well. I think he has a bright future. That being said, he played his way on to the bench with shot selection and out of control actions. Several of the shots he took last night put him back on the bench if they don't go in. Playing time isn't a solution for mental mistakes.

Am i the only one who is worried about his asist ratio?

I know I'm not. In Gordon Hayward's first three months of playing last season, he averaged 0.333 assists a game. We now consider him to be one of the best facilitators on the squad. Burks is a rookie, playing with inconsistent minutes, lower your expectations a little at this point in his career.

I feel like I have to be concerned about something around here....

dammit, why does he have to spell his name with a "c"?

You say that like it's a fact. You have no way of know if that's true in comparison to other players on the team. Did he do some of those things? Probably. Was his shot selection and "out of control actions" worse than other wing players? You don't know that. Did he make mental mistakes? Sure - all players do. Did he make more than other players? You don't know that.

What we do know is that over the course of the season, he hasn't hurt the team whenever he has played.

Which shots are you referring to?

Not seeing how any of his shots were out of control last night at all.

Burks was 6-7 from the field last night. I don't think you know what you are talking about.

some semi-eloquent nonsense here. You start by dissolving any solid ground for comparing and arguing the performance of players, then slip in your own argument at the end. BTW, dude, Burks has been atrocious on defense a few times this season... certainly "hurting the team." I know that because I watched it happen.

He should, of course, be given the opportunity to play through these moments.

Everytime he gets the ball I hld my breath expecting something to happen. Love him.
