I’d rather they’d get rid of this weekend and give the players time off. Or better yet, shorten the season so half the league isn’t trying to “load manage” their stars.

I turned off the sound after listening to Hart for a bit. God, he was so annoying. Who likes that crap?
The all star weekend needs to be taken behind the woodshed and put out of my misery. What a passionless, pointless exercise, like sex with @Douchebag K, his back end has seen so much traffic its like punching smoke.

The Allstar game appears almost irretrievably broken. Despite almost universal acknowledgement that the game sucks, it's hard to note any discernible evidence that the players care. I'm guessing many of them wish it would go away so they could spend a few extra days in Cabo. It's hard to imagine what would incentivize these guys to go out and risk the 45-50 million plus yearly salaries they stand to lose by incurring a serious injury in a meaningless game. Playing for pride is one thing, but playing for $50 million a year is something quite different. Who can blame them? How many of us would risk that kind of money?
I might be missing something. Is there's some other reason today's players are fine with turning the Allstar game into a mockery.
What legitimate options exist to alter the prevailing incentive system?
Alternatively, am I (or are we) engaging in false nostalgia about the Allstar game in days of yore?

I went to the conference center in Indy last year during All Star weekend and it was amazing. It's like how I imagine comic con, but for basketball fans. I don't think they should get rid of the weekend.

The teams were not perfect and the draft was pretty half assed. The weekend was a lot of finger pointing by the crew, but I'm amazed at how little preparation and effort the crew makes besides Ernie and maybe Kenny.
Also he's 26 but feels like we've been seeing him on finals and late playoff runs for ~7 years. Someone like Brunson is older but perhaps feels like a "younger star" in how long he's been on the map.
Go back to basics.

The game is made mostly of stars from winning teams, so that should give the game value.

Remove the skills challenge, replace it with King of the Hill.
And/or one on one.
Here’s an idea: if there’s overtime, have one-on-one to determine the game like a shootout in Hockey/soccer (I don’t know what I’m talking about).
King of The Hill is 1 v 1, it's just with a rotating group.
Basically you have 5 players (or any #). If you score you get a point and stay on, if you get scored on you get off. First to a certain score wins.
