Nique is a defensive sieve, Kyrie is a defensive sieve. Yao could be taken out if they pay a small-ball lineup with Matrix, cuz he doesn't have the mobility to collapse PNRs. Duncan thrives in an offense with plenty of gifted passers-- Tim and Kyrie are much too ball dominant IMO. He has a ****-ton of scoring talent, but I always tend to side with the cohesive, defensive teams that will find easy, obvious roles for players & have a couple players that can get you buckets every trip down the floor.

1) Small ball with Matrix - then Carmelo will play the 4.

2) Tim is too ball dominant? What? He averages 8.1 assists over his career!! Averages 10+ assists in 1992, 1993 and 1996.

3) Drexler will handle the ball a tonne in this series making plays, ala LeBron/Kyrie this year.

One Love has more length and firepower off the bench.

I'm nostalgic for Moses Malone as much as the next guy, but his game was pretty much 12 feet in. He doesn't have the quickness and body control of Boozer, and he's giving up 8 inches to Yao Ming. He can still body up and find some scores in the post, but if he gets doubled by another 7-footer, I don't think it works. I don't think he wins that match up.

Siro's team would spread One Love's out giving Malone plenty of room to operate. One Love doesn't have enough shooters around Duncan.

Team ONE LOVE:

PG - Kyrie Irving / Tim Hardaway
SG - Clyde Drexler / Paul George / Brandon Roy
SF - Dominique Wilkins / Carmelo Anthony
PF - Tim Duncan / Dirk Nowitzki / LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Yao Ming / Tyson Chandler

Team Siro:

PG - Steve Nash / Tony Parker / John Wall
SG - Reggie Miller / Allen Iverson
SF - Kawhi Leonard / Shawn Marion / Lamar Odom
PF - Karl Malone / Rasheed Wallace
C - Moses Malone / Ben Wallace

[/B]

Yao was really good when healthy, Duncan and malone is a wash, pgs are a wash but Clyde and Wilkins would dominate that match up. Duncan can handle Malone 1v1. Then the bench seems way better for One Love. I like AI he needs the ball in his hand and Tony is not an off the ball pg who can space the floor well. Shawn's shot is ugly and inconsistent and Walllace combo is decent but ill take Dirk, LA and Chandler over them.

That's an outlier, it was Duncan's Rookie season when the Jazz met the Spurs in the 1998 playoffs. Duncan did win ROY that year but you've got to give him a break - you're comparing Malone at his peak VS the rookie Duncan.

In 25 games after that though - Duncan holds a 17-8 winning edge over Malone with Duncan averaging 25.2pts, 11.3rebs, 2.7blocks, compared that to Malone's 20.7pts, 9.9reb, 0.8blocks.

Duncan clearly the more rounded player over the course of his career and at his peak would match Malone defensively.

How many times did Duncan beat Malone in the playoffs?

Well said. Moses was my favorite player growing up and I remember him playing for the Utah Stars right out of HS. And of course, Siro's team has Karl. Hard vote, but I went with OneLove for most of the reasons above (and I voted before I read Broncster's post).

Malone locked his *** down in 2004 with one leg, and at age 40.

Siro built a team to Karl's strengths, you didn't do the same for Duncan.

Siro's team

Nash malone Pick N roll

1)Malone scores
2)collapse the D, Miller and Kawhi are wide open.

Your team has no answer for that. You built a bad team, imo.

... piggybacking off of Shaq and Kobe's most dominant period? LOL ... Duncan had a cast of Nasterovic, Bowen, young Ginobili and Parker.

Let's just make blanket statements, forget about the context.

Siro's team is one of my favourites, in terms of cohesion. He shot himself in the foot with three-point shooting though-- if he could have snagged one more gunner from the 4 or 5 position it would have simply been a matchup nightmare.

I have 3 GREAT three-point shooters in the starting line up though.

They won a ring the year before, and the year after. Everyone who watched the series knows how well Malone guarded Duncan.

Duncan still manages to do this though which is saying something:

Game 1: 30
Game 2: 24
Game 3: 10
Game 4: 19
Game 5: 21
Game 6: 20

All the while also having to anchor the defense and guard Shaq as well.

How many rings does Karl have? And how many times did Karl man up and lead his team to the NBA Finals or even the WC Finals? Karl was a great regular season player. He didn't come up clutch in a lot of series, though.

Its a close one, but I personally would have preferred Nowitzki start PF and Duncan C (in this matchup).
both are good teams, Siros Chemistry is good I love the pairing of Nash and Malone but for me the PF and SF depth of One Loves team wins narrowly (although again I could see Duncan at C in this matchup at least half the game)

Thanks bro, I will start Duncan at C and Nowitzki at PF in the next round if I make it through.. :)
