My point is that, if the team is bettered by it, then Favors or Kanter should start. Is that so hard to understand? Is that not what any coach, GM, or owner would want, a better team?

Some of you seem to think that instead, vets should be favored at all times and in all ways. Not if they do not produce, not if there is a better line-up. One can argue whether it is better starting say AJ-PS or AJ-DF. But if you think that the team would perform better starting AJ-DF with PS-EK off the bench, are you saying you would refuse to do that? Because it p-off a vet? Because rooks and youngin's gotsa earn their PT? BS.

While what you talk about was not directly related to what I meant in my previous post; I can tell you that:

- I'm not a "vets all the way" fan.
- You can make a case for Enes-Derrick combo to start the games with some stats but like one of famous fans in old Jazzfanz, better known as "+/- guy" S2Minem, you will make the same mistake. He, back in '07-08 season, argued -to a crazy degree that argument turned out to be a "Memo-bash fest" or "Mansap to start" PR work- that Millsap-Boozer should start. Like I said "+/- stats", win shares, all kinds of stats he came up with were indicating that Paul at that time simply outplayed Memo, which was right. I and some other fans claimed that playing against 2nd units, playing much more freely and at a considerably higher game pace had significant effect on Millsap's stats, which we said by no means should let us undermine his great effort on both ends, and his inexperience + his being undesized (with the fact that Boozer was also an undersized PF) would create HUGE problems for our starting 5, which all the way down from that time to this day have proven to be true, usually.

Brent Barry says "stats are like bikinis, nice to look at; but they do not tell you the WHOLE story".

- Why would you mess up with what works. You can find flaws even in the best team in the world. Every team needs a makeup, no one is perfect. The Jazz, win or lose, have improved and played hard. Even if coach really wants to make a change, that should happen to anything but our frontcourt. That's just crazy. Just before the season, a vast majority was content with a 25-30 W season w/ no playoffs. Let's remember that for a second, and do not get ahead of ourselves.

Joke aside, I'm a known Kanter homer and of course I don't agree about his nature lacking rebaunding instincts or hustling etc but I can see what UCLAwin trying to say. Enes can sure grab some more rebounds if he tries to be awake all the time. Because sometimes his awareness in the game seems to be scaling down like the times he misses or forgets where his man is on defense. But again, he's just a 19 years old rookie so it's not even a problem as long as he does keep it away from being a habit.

You are over-thinking the issue.

Sap and Jefferson are a lot better than Favors and Kanter to this point.

Also Utah is winning a lot of games. What Corbin is doing is working, meanwhile the young guys are, in fact, improving at a quite acceptable pace. As the season goes on those guys will get more opportunities. They are already one injury away from getting close to starter minutes.

To me it's a non-issue, and not at all about favoring vets vs. development or vice verse. Corbin has got it right.

Not always. Kanter and Favors should have got more time in game 2 against the Lakers and against the Spurs. Corbin stuck with Millsap and Jefferson in those games not because they were playing well, but because he was AFRAID of playing Favors and Kanter. Spurs and Lakers have dominated the Jazz in recent years because of our poor defense in the post. Kanter and Favors could have changed that -- and did in the last game against the Lakers -- but Corbin elected to stay with the same losing hand and played our bench bigs sparingly in the two losses.
