Yeah a lot of the thread and insta comments are incredibly racist. A lot of n-words thrown around and death threats.

Yeah **** that ****.....they were saying terrible things about his mom in the comments I saw...again if google translate is anywhere close.....Don must have posted something on IG at some point on his story and deleted it, I saw this twitter comment.....is this really what they’re so upset about....him saying something about them being persistent? Or not signing stuff for them? Either way they’re being waaaaay disrespectful from the few comments I’ve seen on twitter with a google translate, like terrible disrespectful.

He didn’t sign whatever they wanted signed from what I gather....also....I remember this IG story....isn’t it from last year when he went for the NBA 2k thing? Either way....a few of the comments are beyond out of line. **** that.

.....some of the comments though. Dons the best dude ever, I get there’s a bit of a language barrier there but if that’s all he did he doesn’t deserve the trashy BS comments I’ve seen from some of them.

Chinese fans are the last ones you want to piss off. Remember JJ Redick was in an NBA promo for Chinese New Year, and he said something that sounded like ch*nk and he got the whole 9 yards too.

Best thing to do is ignore the haters. Make sure security is upgraded. Focus entirely on being a positive person, and learn a little bit about how minor cultural differences can be blown out of proportion.

Anybody who knows Donovan understands that he was complimenting their fans, not complaining. That’s exactly his personality. Not sure that translated as efficiently as he would’ve hoped it would. Adidas PR needs to get ON TOP of this and make sure he’s safe though.

Didn't realize that. I’m pretty sure Europe will be way more chill about it. The Chinese are pretty intense.

Still. . . after one episode like this, I’d be insisting a stronger security presence for the duration of my trip.
