What's new

And so it begins.......

Your phrase makes it sound like you are pretty sure you are right. Don't think you meant it like that, but thats how it sounds the way it is written.

You mean in the first post where I asked the question? Or the second, when I talked about 7-8 years ago?

As of 2000, scouts in Methodist organizations outnumbered those in Mormon:

Today the LDS Church sponsors 31,000 Scout units, more than any other group -- although United Methodist-chartered units account for slightly more Scouts (424,000).

That is surprising. How many camp outs and fights were there ?

We went camping a couple times a year and anyone enever a baptist troop ended in a fight. Never had problems with Nethodists, Lutherans or any non denominational group. Always the Baptists...

LOL My dad's backyard is next to a Baptist church. The pastor stuck his head over the fence one day and asked my dad if he was Mormon. When my dad answered in the affirmative the pastor told my dad he was going to hell. My dad simply replied, "See you there."

As pointed out, no. You worded it in a way where you can still attempt to claim you are right.

My first post expressed surprise that Mormons had passed the Methodists, and second explained that by saying they must have passed them recently. My being right wasn't even an issue, so why would I try to word something to claim I was?

Would rep your dad if I could. Great response!

Are you two married? This sounds like one of those silly fights couples have when they both try to be right by arguing over minutiae. Let's just all agree that whatever the respective numbers/rankings, that's close to 1M scouts that would probably leave the BSA.
.
What is interesting to me is that there already is a fast-growing, faith-based alternative to Girl Scouts called "American Heritage Girls (AHG)."
The same model wouldn't work for a universal alternative to the BSA, but I could see the Methodists and Mormons each creating their own entities, And who knows, maybe those two faiths and others could work together if belief systems were broadly stated. The AHG has a very exact definition of God in their "Statement of Faith."
.
I'm always astounded that there is so much hatred towards the LDS for believing that the Godhead consists of three separate individuals, each distinct in personage, but one in purpose. I have no problem with those who believe the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three manifestations of the same being. Seems a bit confusing to me, but then again, you can find scriptures in the Bible to support each viewpoint.

Actually, I don't recall ever having a discussion with Stoked before this thread. You must be reading something into that based on what you want to see.

We can't be married Brow, it is illegal, I already have a wife.
