Anti-Trump Resistance

Great decision….

The Democratic Party is planning an extensive series of town halls in Republican-held districts in all 50 states to draw attention to the Republican leadership’s recent warning that G.O.P. lawmakers should avoid such open forums.

The initial wave of what Democrats are branding “People’s Town Halls” is planned to target nine House Republicans in battleground districts, from Arizona to Pennsylvania, who Democrats believe will be vulnerable in the 2026 midterm elections.

The incursions into Republican territory come as the Democratic Party tries to find its political footing after a turbulent first 50 days of President Trump’s second term, and as Republicans control every facet of the federal government — and are exercising their power aggressively.

Party officials said the first nine town halls were just the start, with the goal of eventually holding events across the country to highlight some of the less popular proposals pressed by the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress.

The effort seeks to capitalize on private advice this month from Representative Richard Hudson of North Carolina, the chair of the House Republican campaign arm, that G.O.P. lawmakers stop having in-person town halls after some devolved into shouting matches.

“If they won’t talk to their own voters, then Democrats will,” Ken Martin, the chair of the Democratic National Committee, said in a statement to The New York Times. “That’s why we’ll be hosting People’s Town Halls in all 50 states across the country, starting now with vulnerable G.O.P.-held target districts.”
Good. This is what we’ve waited to see. Unlike MAGA, Democrats actually care about improving the lives of the majority of this country. Im old enough to remember what life was like before Obamacare. Anyone else remember when insurance companies could just not insure you because of pre-conditions? Good times good times.

My wife and I just submitted our renewals and I've actually had a few business acquaintances/friends ask me if we need help or offering help if we needed to get out. Maybe I'll have that chance to move back to Germany again sooner than I expected.
Germany definitely has a stronger democracy, better health care system, and likely better economic prospects than America under this fascism. Have you seen your 401k lately? Trump has only been in office for 2 months

My wife is a Canadian citizen, has been living on a green card here since the 1970s, I think we're going to talk to an immigration lawyer about getting her citizenship here, and talk to Canadian immigration about if I can move up there.

Living with an enemy Alien hey? Knowingly too by the sound of it. Is this what they mean by the enemy within?

Give Herr Trump some time. I'm sure the fuhrer has a plan for you, he may even, at no cost relocate you to a free camp!! It will be like being on holiday for you, naturally there might be some chores involved.

Do we think Trump and the GOP will be less extreme or more extreme over the next four years? Do you think our economy will be better or worse over the next four years as we isolate ourselves from our allies and continue our assault on education, science, and expertise? Do you think corruption will be more or less over the next four years? Think our society will be more empathetic and stable or less over the next four years? Will we see more or less disease and death over the next four years?

Interesting questions, especially for those who have opportunities to live and work elsewhere.

A couple of different perspectives….

Up the Revolution:

Few things in life are more enlivening of the spirit than Resistance!

With an entire political and social movement rooted in LIES and the rewriting of history to reflect all those LIES, something like this would seem to be quite nearly inevitable, IMHO. To be expected? Could very well be:

And the view of a well known Marxist….

I see a few roads. Maybe all of them.

Democratic-socialist revolution. Lead by Bernie, we set things right. The way it should’ve been for all of us. Unite the sides and we fight together against Christo-fascists. We storm the Capitol and take our country back.

We get deep into the “transition”. The poor get completely squeezed out, lower middle class the same. Middle class collapses and we have hungry people in the streets with nothing to lose. Protect yourselves and your loved ones. Hope you’re armed and prepared.

World War.

The funniest thing about your posting this idea is that I know you are naïve to it. You don't recognize it. They scooped the core out so you wouldn't immediately reject it.

The video centers on real wage growth effectively halting in 1970. Why 1970? What is it about 1970 that caused such a radical shift? Wage growth persisted through times of high inflation and low inflation, through the Gilded Age when wealth inequality was through the roof, and times of lower wealth inequality, through times of high national debt and low national debt, high tax rates and low tax rates, booms and recessions. Wage growth persisted through slavery, ending slavery, war, cold war, peace, republican, and democrat majorities. The video makes a reference to credit cards, but those were invented in 1950 and only 2% of households had a credit card in 1970. It wasn't credit cards. So, what was it about that year your video builds its whole center around, but neglects to clearly explain. Why 1970?

I know why, because this idea has been around, and in those other explainers they don't neglect to say exactly what happened to so radically change the landscape, and which now according to you is leading to revolution. What happened in 1970?
