MOST LIKELY WAY TOO EARLY TO JUDGE ....

There were flashes of brilliance and I had optimism last year, but im starting to wonder if we may end up slightly whiffing on 3/4 picks. I'm worried Favors might be the only "regular" All-Star of the bunch, Hayward and Burks as solid contributing wings, and Kanter as a energy big off the bench

thoughts....

Yes. I think it's way too early to annoint these guys future all-stars. Favors has shown flashes; he's also disappeared in games and gets into foul trouble. Can he even play 30 mins. per? Hayward is a definite keeper, but he's also very inconsistent. Is he going to take a step up or will he continue to tease?

As for Burks and Kanter, we just don't know yet. Both have ability. Kanter has shown some toughness. He's also looked completely lost at times. Burks has great skills, but he could easily turn into an Almond or CJ. Or he could be a Maggette-type player.

Kanter and Burks are still big question marks. Not sure Burks is anything other than Ronnie Brewer - who was also touted as someone who could play the point.

The draft is a crap shoot, especially now that players are coming out so early. Anyone who listens to David Locke has heard him go off on how there are only something like one superstar, a few all stars and half rotation players in the lottery, which comes to about half the players even making the league, with only a fraction becoming stars. The point is that there is about a 50% chance that half of our 'core' will flop, and an even smaller chance that any of them will become anything but role players.

Sad.

However, I like what I see, and if any of them do become superstars, than it's still probably worth it as long as none of them completely bust.

CJ was too. I predicted that CJ was going to be the primary back up at one point. Guess I can be a bit of a homer. ;)

This year we'll find out a lot about our 4rce (nice term coinage D Will Texas btw). Being in their third year, I hope to see a lot of improvement from Favors and Hayward. They'll be looking to earn nice contract extension offers. Hopefully we can just more of Kanter and Burks period and start to get an idea of how far they can go.

I think it's more than that. It's also where a player gets developed. If your franchise is throwing them in the fire (IE: Sacto, Washington) chances are, that franchise's picks usually don't amount to anything. But some places develop them correctly....Denver for one, I think George Karl is good at player development. Without being a homer, Utah is a good player development team. Spurs, definately....etc.

Its obviously too early to tell but IMO favors AND burks will both be all stars. Hayward will have a really good career maybe as a 6th man or a solid starter, and i believe that kanter will always have a nice place in a rotation with his elite rebounding skills.

So I am not worried at all about the 4rce. I think all 4 will be good, especially favors and burks.

I think Favors needs to be shown major love to keep him here. By the players, organization and fans. Make this home.

Burks will be an allstar if he gets that shot completely down. That with his ability to get to the rim and he can be a killer.

Hayward is still that glue guy in my opinion. Not the man but the one that makes it all work.

Kanter needs time and I think he will be a solid 15/15 guy.

Personally my greatest fear is that Favors bolts for Atlanta.

If KOC is smart he'll extend Favors after next season and not let it get to that point.

I believe Favors when he says he likes Utah - he doesn't seem like a party guy or someone who needs to be in the spotlight. And after the way he was treated by The Nets, I think the commitment they're showing him now will go a long way.

I agree with this except i think kanters numbers are a little high.

I listed them a little high in the hopes that he pushes himself. I can see him reaching that if he pushes himself. I want him to be that bull down low. Just breaking guys, destroying the glass and just hold down the fort while Favors does the fancy stuff.

If Favors starts, the Jazz will be showing him their commitment to him. If they start Al over Favors...well, the Jazz are saying Al is their guy.

Hayward looks good. He just needs more confidence, and that will come as the game slows down for him. I think this Olympic week will be great for him. If he can see he can hang with the best, he could be very, very good.

Burks - 50/50. If he works, the sky is the limit (which you could also say about CJ). If he doesn't...CJ.

Kanter - already an elite rebounder. His floor is an Ostertag. Less effective offensively, big and strong defensively.
