As far as I'm concerned, STG is the premier place to live in Utah. I spent the last two years there and am now back in SLC. Words can't describe how effing much I hate it up here, and if not for my wife (who hated every second down there) I'd be moving back post haste.

Pros:
CLEAN AIR. I can't stress enough how awesome it is to not get sick every three months because you're essentially performing felatio on a tailpipe every time you step outside. And holy ****, you can actually see the mountains!

NO TRAFFIC. This one explains itself. I just looooove driving to Utah County from Salt Lake and having a 30 minute drive take 90 minutes.

THE ROADS AREN'T FALLING TO PIECES. I can not believe how ****ty the roads are up here. I grew up driving on them, so I never noticed. Two years away and it feels like I need to buy an SUV just to make it into work.

IT'S CLEAN. I always thought SLC was a clean place, at least compared to other cities I've been in like Denver, Boston, Atlanta, etc., but it looks like a landfill compared to STG.

ENDLESS RECREATION 11 MONTHS A YEAR. Seriously. If you like being outside, then holy damn, this is your Graceland.


Cons:

It's 300 miles from SLC.
July gets toasty -- but seriously, every building down there has top shelf AC, so you're never more than a parking lots stroll from being comfortable again.
People drive slow. It drove me bat **** nuts for the first year, but I got used to it and actually began to enjoy it. Much less stress while driving, better gas mileage, no speeding tickets.

That's it. Move down there, you'll be glad you did.








p.s. Don't listen to Peeks, he's too high end for you. I'm a mans man when it comes to real estate down there, and I'll hook you up phat. Seriously. I'm poor and could use the money.

Not to hijack the thread but ... I will. Family (extended family meaning 18-22 peeps) is looking to get a nice house for rent down the STG way for a week next July. Yes, I realize I said July which will suck for afternoon temps but that's the only time everyone is out of year-round school and work obligations. Looking more near Zion though since we want to hit the park a couple times as well as make a day-trek to the Grand Canyon. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Found a place we like on HomeAway in Hurricane but always looking for local feedback too... TIA

My family did the same trip a couple of years ago. We rented a house with a pool. In addition to the parks we went to a couple of plays at Tuacahn and they were awesome!

Manning has a place for about $2000/night. Jacuzzi. Comes with VIP passes to Friday Night Live! at One and Only. The house has got these shiny black, bank-vault style floors. Mirrors everywhere. Florescent light bars near the floor. Sick, braugh.
 
Stripper polls or not, looking at 500 or less a night.
