Anyone know why Burks was a DNP?

He should have played. Home Opener, Corbin should have thrown the kid a bone and at least let him get a couple of minutes

He does that and costs teh game and this place goes insane. Rooks ans sophs came back from how much again? Give teh coach a ****ing break.

If Burks played, and scored a lot of points, Ty might be forced to bench Bell. Then Raja Bell would reveal the incriminating photos he has of the Jazz coaching staff.

I think Ty realizes he has to tighten up the rotation for chemistry purposes. No team plays 13 guys a night consistently.
I think that not playing 13 guys a night consistently is overrated, and that in a compressed season like this one, it can help players stay fresh. And the elephant in the room is the missed development for Burks. Tonight Bell, CJ & Howard did OK, and Hayward did great, but there was still room for Burks IMHO for crucial development time. Even 5 minutes.

As for him not being ready, the few minutes that he has been in the game (albeit in garbage time) suggest that he can contribute. And if he's not ready, it still doesn't explain/excuse not playing him when it's already garbage time.

Are you kidding? You do realize that the Jazz only won that game in the last 20ish seconds, right? And you want to give a player time to be nice regardless of the score?

Anyway, my reasoning is this: Burks' college team played a strange offence that doesn't resemble anything close to the Jazz offence, or even any team in the league. Because of this Burks is having to adjust his talent to fit into the NBA game and is likely to be thinking more than he should. The reason this didn't effect his play the other night is it WAS garbage minutes and the people on the floor were playing something like rat ball, which anyone who has played any basketball and has talent can play. His performance the other night is promising, it shows that he has ability, but until he demonstrates that he has learned the NBA game, he has no guarantees for time.

Sadly, with a shortened season, this will be hard to do especially if he doesn't get on the floor, but he's good, he'll figure it out.

Just not when the game is so close.

He would have exactly 0 minutes in games not already decided . So why does it surprise people that he does not play in a game that was close for the entire time.

Basically he has been judged by TY to not be ready. Hopefully if Bell keeps sucking it up this changes.

Calm down drama queen.

Burks played well Wednesday night against Denver - you really think the 18 minutes of Bell doing almost nothing were that precious that he couldn't at least have given the kid the chance to hear a loud ovation when they announce his name during the game so he could feel he was part of the home opener?

Are you serious?

No he should not care about the kids feelings in this. He needs to be ready to play to get minutes. They don't feel he is.

While Bell is getting far more minutes than he should. Your reason for giving Burks minutes is laughable. Burks should get minutes because he earns them and takes them from Bell. This is kind of the wrong year to be a young mid round pick. He did not have much time in camp and pre-season to show he deserves those minutes. His feeling should have nothing to do with his playing time.
