...across the Chicago River in downtown Chicago this afternoon?

Any one hear about this? I guess it's going to be broadcast on the Discovery Channel or something. It's certainly been on the news here quite a bit for the past few weeks.

I think it's crazy. And I really don't think he should even be allowed to do this. But I didn't get a vote in the matter :-)

It would be interesting to see the dude fall. I didn't read any of the links, is he doing this with no safety equipment at all, or will he have a wire connecting him to the high-wire?

No net or other safety precautions from what I've heard. I think the broadcast is time delayed in case he does fall.

Here's some info from the first link:

Tightrope artist Nik Wallenda takes on Chicago's skyscrapers on Sunday, Nov. 2, when he'll attempt to walk across a wire 50 stories above the Chicago River — partly blindfolded. Here's what you need to know about the walk and the fearless 35-year-old acrobat.

Details on the walk
Mr. Wallenda will walk on a 15-degree incline from Marina City's West Tower at 300 N. State St. to the Leo Burnett Building at 35 W. Wacker Drive. The second part of the walk will be between the Marina West and East towers, blindfolded. He will be nearly 650 feet high, and the walk is about 600 feet long. The walk is expected to take about two hours.

I watched it last year when he did the grand canyon, it was pretty cool. They made way too big of a deal out of it though. and the delay kinda ruins it for me. Still pretty cool to see. Get ready for a lot of "praise jesus"'s during the walk lol.

Didn't this guys grandpa die doing this? It seems to me like the guy wants to die in a high wire incident. Not that he wants to on any given walk but I think he does want to as part of his legacy. This dude is not going to stop doing this until he falls.

**** no I'm not gonna watch.

It's like watching paint dry.... grass grow... etc

It beats watching David Blaine stand in a block of ice. He would need to be on a unicycle crossing the wire to get me to watch though. It might be cool if you were there in person.

yep, that sounds about right

Though I may watch a bit here and there / I figure they'll have side stories to fill in the time and hold viewers' interest so I'm curious to see how they do that

actually watching the Knicks - Hornets right now.

Well was it everything everyone dreamed it would be?

It reminds me of that film Man On Wire. Def recommend.
