If the Jazz can get Game 2, it puts the series on the brink for Dallas. Game 3 in Utah is going to be really tough for the Mavs, with or without Luka. If the Jazz take a 3-0 lead, I don't think Luka comes back.

So far, Luka hasn't done any on-court activity, and he hasn't been cleared for contact. I think it's very unlikely that Luka plays in Game 2.
With how game 1 went (they being able to slow us down enough to keep around and nearly being able to profit on our team collective broken mental state), I wouldn't expect the Mavs to rush Luka for game 2 (if he's suddenly ok, yeah, but reports were already not optimistic of his chances for monday as early as thursday), and only get on panic mode if we get 2-0 at their home floor.

I don't think that this game gave them confidence, they played as well as they can without Luka, got very friendly whistle and still lost even though we played well below our potential. Just read the jazzavenues quotes and you will see that their fans are far from optimistic. Last year we also shot poorly in the first game against the Grizzlies and than won 4 straight. Nothing is decided yet of course but they are at disadvantage even if Luka comes back tomorrow which I don't believe will happen.

You basically couldn't have asked for an easier first round series than this without Luka.

Jazz absolutely cannot squander this opportunity. Go up 2-0, and the Mavs will fold on the road.

Sweep the Mavs, and you get a week's worth of preparation for Phoenix, and see what the Jazz are made of.

Quin Snyder teams are famous for using Game 1 of a series to test different lineups, gather data and see what the other team is giving us. (Ty Lue is more famous for it, but still...). I think the Jazz used the first half of Game 1 to feel things out and see what the Mavs were willing to give the Jazz and what they were taking away. The Jazz are well scouted and everyone knows who they are and what they do. Whereas, this Mavs team had a lineup on the floor the Jazz had never played before. So for the Jazz to come out, experiment a bit, make a few adjustments and pull out the win bodes well going forward. I think the Jazz are going to be much sharper.
