Attacker Thwarted by LDS Bishop With Samurai Sword

There are tons of creepy guys and their secret lives, why narrow it down to only Mormon guys?
Get more articles that way.

Disturbing that there's that many creepy guys out there though.

We narrow it down because we can.

We could also have an opposing article about "Mormon guys and their samarai knives" (<---for rhyming sake)
That column could be all about the wonderful acts done by decent Mormon dudes. (<---they could have secret lives of superhero goodness)

I'm not sure how popular positive acts would be though. Everyone loves to dwell on the psychopathic "creepy guy" tragedies.

I would buy a "Chicken Soup for the Samurai Mormon Bishops" before I bought the " Uninspiring stories of Ward Creeps".

I could be in the minority though.

Time to call up Mark Victor Hansen...unless you're him.

I am not him, otherwise I could probably motivate myself to do more at work and post less here.

I do like the Chicken Soup idea... maybe not all of them, but some of them.

"Chicken Soup for the Jaded Jazz Fanz" We need some inspiring stories to lift up the complainers.

"Chicken Soup for the Whiny Complainy Know-it-all ideet Jazz Fanz" Too long?

So turning things back to a more serious note, I'm looking for a way to help out Grant's family. He's still in jail, his bond is set at $150K, and based on being charged with several felonies and misdemeanors, it seems likely he'll be sentenced to some jail/prison time at some point (not sure how that distinction is made). Anyway, getting back to the point, I'm thinking about setting up a page on one of those sites where anybody can donate to a cause. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or pride for that matter and cause any problems, since the whole situation is bad enough as it is.

Here are some options I'm thinking about.

1. Get in contact with Grant and/or his wife about the idea - I'm a little hesitant about this since I don't know her that well - I've associated more with Grant - and I don't really know how she would react. But, in terms of setting something up, it would be easier with the family on board imo.

2. Bring up the idea to my wife, see what she thinks and have her bring it up to Grant's wife. This may be better than #1 because my wife and Grant's wife work together in primary (that's church-related if you didn't know).

3. Set up a site without mentioning all the details about the family (but rather the situation in general) so as not to invade anyone's privacy and hopefully not piss anyone off. The downside is that I'm pretty sure this approach would hurt the chances of actually having much success.

Any thoughts on these possibilities? They're a good family and I don't want things to be any tougher than they already are because of financial difficulties.

Maybe it will be more appropriate to step in AFTER the divorce, nightmare. Sounds like Grant has brought this upon himself. From what you've written, it sounds like he has little remorse...other than being caught. Stalking and attacking that woman means he's a violent criminal. I know that's harsh, but Grant had multiple chances to change his behavior. He had a stalking injunction filed against him, but he STILL went after the woman and tried to forcibly enter her apartment. Any donations at this point would go to bond fees. I'm not entirely familiar with the process, but isn't the fee charged by the bond company about 10%? So $15K of donations would go directly into the pocket of the bond company.

Since your wife and Grant's wife are both involved in primary, it sounds like all of you are active in the LDS Church. In this case, I recommend you communicate with Grant's bishop. It's likely he has already stepped in and is helping through the resources of the church.

Update: Grant had a preliminary hearing today and accepted a plea deal. Everything will be reduced to misdemeanors and he got sentenced to 90 days in jail followed by 90 days of house arrest followed by probation. But, pending good behavior, he could get released as early as July 8. I still don't know if he's told everything to his wife or where exactly their relationship stands at the moment.
