When he was asked the question this week, Joe Ingles didn't hesitate with his answer. Does the Utah Jazz forward have any desire to be in the 3-point contest at all-star weekend?

"They can put someone else in," he said. "I'll happily watch from the sidelines."

Marc Gasol lobbied hard for the Grizz to sign Ingles, but they were financially hamstrung. There was even a report they offered him a two-year guaranteed contract, although Joe never received such an offer.

They weren't friends. And yes it was a coincidence, and the mentoring line was cooked up by ignorant media types who had never heard of Ingles, and is being repeated by a hack who hasn't done his homework. But hey, just ignore the fact Ingles was in the rotation from Day 1 after only one practice, and keep spinning the line his signing was nothing to do with his basketball ability in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Eddie Palubinskas was drafted, but never played for the Jazz.
