So, I'm looking to getting into backpacking mainly because I live in Montana and the hiking/camping is terrific here, and cause there's this cute girl I know who's into it. Anyways, what's a good pack for a beginner? I won't be going out for any longer than 2 days. I've been checking REI outlet, left lame sports and the clymb, I just don't know what's good. Help me out.

Any idea how much you intend to be lugging around the mountain on this little romantic escapade of yours? You could go all out on a pack ... or, for only $16.99 you could throw some condoms in this stylish Duke Bluedevils fanny pack.

Duke fans do not need condoms, they are all sterile. It is part of the requirements to be a Duke fan.

You should pay more attention to what's on your feet. Blisters are a bitch when they turn into open oozing sores...

For a two day or less excursion, you probably want to get a 50-65 liter pack. I have a Deuter 65+10 and it is awesome. I'd buy at REI. They have a lifetime return policy (if the pack doesn't fit right, etc) and they will help you check the fit in store by weighing down the pack and checking the fit. There are certain items you should buy in a retail store so you can check the fit. A backpack is one of them.

Having a separate compartment for the sleeping bag at the bottom is really nice too.

Good luck.
