Yeah, there is a big difference between pairing Mitchell(22), Gobert (25) with a 22 year old PF with upside than a 29 year old player on the decline. A shorter contract is not necessarily better but Gallinari does not have a shorter contract either.
All the more reason for the Jazz to NOT **** up their own cap situation bailing another team out unless they get a windfall for their troubles. I’d rather keep our own guys and punt until 2019 rather than be a cap dump. Jazz aren’t getting closer to adding a 3rd star with ANY of the trades that have been suggested so far. Late draft picks are not worth being out of the market until after Gobert’s contract is up. If they can trade guys for positive assets without taking back long term salary? Great. Do that.
