BBallbreakdown: Favors is an average 'center' who is massively overpaid

Good thing he's playing PF then next year. I think we all know he's only average as a C, but fits much better at PF. Plus, those numbers do not show any defensive or advanced metrics.

Not sure how he can be the average center with a 21+ PER. PER shows him being a top PF/C among guys with starting minutes. This just seems like a really retarded stat match thing.

How can Henry Sims and Derrick Favors both represent the average center?

Yeah, the average salary thing is dumb as well. They obviously included dudes that don't get regular mins. It doesn't really tell you much.

BBallbreakdown managed to simultaneously put way too little and way too much effort into this. FAIL

So is the idea here that there are supposedly 14 centers in the league who are better than Derrick Favors?

There were only 6 centers that had a better real plus-minus than Favors last year.

Favors' PER was slightly better than Tyson Chandler, Nicola Vucevic, Marcin Gortat and Jonas Valanciunas, but I don't see them listed among "average" centers. Are those guys supposed to be "below average"?

No, that's for the whole league, not for starters. So he'd be about 40th best center in the league.

No, it's average centers, not average starting center.

Coach Nick can be annoying. If you're coach Nick, that's what you do.

I used to be a fan but he's become more obnoxious than David Locke. Locke comes up with some great new material; Nick says the same **** over and over and over. I only follow him for the cool Jazz vines he puts up from time to time. The rest of his "breakdowns" have been gavel pounding nonsense for the last year or more.

Oh, and Favors is considered modestly paid in today's market. He's going to get a big deal next time around.

Favors is possibly on the best contract in the league, and that's not just from Jazz fans. That's about the most retarded commentary I've heard. Maybe Coach Nick is trying to turn into Skip Bayless.

This study is BS, they haven't taken into account factors such as potential or role in the team (plays against starters or against bench players mainly) etc..

stats are for geeks. Reality of Favors situation is he is getting paid off potential still. Now question is does he ever reah that potential to be an allstar or is he just the player he is? No shame in that.

What? LOL. Favors has one of the best contracts in the league based on production. That is the opposite of getting paid on potential. He's a better player than most of the all star big men in the L'eastern conference.

This is 100% certified organic bull S*!# I would love to see an example of another center doing what favors does on the same salary. As well as Booker. He adds value that a stat sheet doesn't calculate. That video wasted 5 minutes of my life that I can't get back.
