Best Draft Outcome

If I could pick one ideal way that draft night unfolded, I'd choose the below chain of events:

Jazz trade #3 to WASH for #6 and #18. I'm not an advocate of trading out of an elite position and wouldn't if a guy like Harrison Barnes were in the mix, but he's not and this draft is wide open after Irving/Williams.

#6 - Vesley. I go with the assumption that WASH takes Kanter, CLE goes Jonas and Toronto eagerly scoops Knight. Vesley's size at SF doesn't exist at the NBA level. He's solid offensively and has potential to develop even more as a defender with coaching and not just be a weakside defender like Kirilenko. This would put Kiri coming off the bench which would prolong his career but may end up giving the second unit some additional spark.

#12 - Jimmer. Yep, I went there. I think Walker or Leonard would get snapped up by SAC so he'll be there at #12. I'm not firmly entrenched on the bandwagon as I think the expectation for him to be an All-Star is a bit much, but Jimmer could run the offense and pick and roll well enough to be a starter. He adds shooting and range (one of our pain points) and wouldn't be the type to leave Utah due to the lack of nightlife. Don't forget that part of sports is building a market and placing butts in seats. The addition of the biggest local superstar ever would sell a few more tickets quite easily and put some change in Greg Miller's pocket.

#18 - Biyombo. No prospect has a bigger draft ceiling/floor than Biyombo. I think his lack of a green room invite means that some of the earlier talk in going top ten was the honeymoon before the warts come out. Drafting Biyombo doesn't mean you're looking for 20 PPG and perhaps not even 10 PPG; immediately, we're getting a guy who will be a hustle player off the bench (like Kiri) who will be a top defensemen and snag rebounds for the second unit. He's there to do the dirty work and actually prefers rebounding/blocks to making the big shot. I don't think the Ben Wallace comparisions are that far off; if we need to improve our defense, there's no better applicant than Biyombo.

Hell no to Vesely we should stick at 3 and take the best player in this draft Kanter and take Kanter, and Klay at 12.

The best outcome would be to draft BPA at 3 and trade 12 for a likely lottery 1st round pick next year.

Draft Knight then get either Biyombo,Hamilton, or Donatas. Also, no way Biyombo drops to 18. Knicks will supposedly snatch him at 17 if he falls that low.

Yes that would be glorious. Don't get my hopes up though. Bizzslap won't fall to 18. It would be pretty miraculous if he fell to the Jazz at 12. You look at the past few Champs and they almost always have a Biyombo type player(meaning defensive big man). Chandler(Dallas), Bynum(Lakers), Garnett(Boston), Wallace(Pistons), Duncan(Spurs). Wait, scratch the almost and keep the always. Notice how Miami didn't have an inside defensive presence. They relied heavily on the athleticism of Wade and Lebron for blocked shots but it wasn't good enough.

Dream Draft:

Irving falls to #3, Jazz draft him
Biyombo's available at #12, Jazz draft him
trade milsap 4 Shaq face teh facts he is just 2 short lol

All the peeps are saying MIN won't pass on Irving because they would trade Flynn right after taking Irving. But maybe they'll reach because of need. It's certainly happened before.

I'm with you on this one. Don't think Irving will fall, however, so I'd probably be willing to trade either CJ or GS 2012 pick to Cleveland or Minnesota for rights to swap #3 that would net us Irving. (Can CJ be traded if Jazz say his option will be picked up?). Coming out of the Deron trade with Irving and Favors would be great.

Yeah I agree with this one as well..

Irving's a true floor general - we won't have to worry about a PG for years to come..

- Can you imagine trading DWill_1's 1 year left in his contract for Irving AND Favors AND Biyombo?

Easily 3 potential starters right there.

Can't count Biyombo (or whoever we draft at #12) as part of the Deron deal. The Jazz earned that pick all on their own. Of course, Deron's terrible attitude was part of the team's slide, which in turn led to an additional lottery pick.
