Best local burritos

If you want something authentic and very good there is a 'Mexican Mall' on Redwood Road and about 22nd south. Actually I think it is on the corner of Redwood and Decker Lake Blvd.

It is a small mall that is occupied by almost nothing but Mexican owned businesses. In fact, if you're white you get the stare down when you walk in. There are a couple of eateries in there that are flat out awesome. Learn some basic Spanish and enjoy!

I also find that many of the street vendors that dot the downtown area have great food. My favorite is the tacos pastor.

I don't know the name, but Google maps is calling it Chile Verde @ 1000 W. North Temple. They have a lunch special for $5 that includes a chile verde burrito and a drink. The burrito is big enough to fill most fat men. I like it because it's an orange chile verde, so the taste is different than the other places I've had.

If you want to spend a little more, there's a Red Iguana down East a ways. For years, word on the street is it's the best in SLC.

I love Betos for breakfast burritos. Their other stuff is ok. Twice I have found metal shavings in my burrito (from the grill brush they use to clean the grill). In both instances I just picked it out and kept eating. It's that good.

Agreed. It's not just good Mexican food. The pho is good there, too.

A lot of these places (including Beto's) vary by location: I love the Alberto's at 4900 South State but can't vouch for the 1500 South State one. For sit-down places Red Iguana is by far the best and now there is a second location to handle the crowds.

Cafe Rio.

La Cocina. My wife's friend's family owns the place. Pretty good stuff.

There used to be a place in town a few years ago called Taco Del Mar that had killer burritos. They expanded too fast and went out of business in the valley, but there's one in Tooele and one in Roy, last I checked.

Gecko's isn't terrible, either. Plus they're the only restaurant that I know of that serves Fresca - the ultimate white guy drink.

Lone Star Rapes. Seriously end thread, nothing else ITT even comes close to Lone Star, get outta here with this LA Cocina garb
