Best PG draft pick fit

Assuming we miss the playoffs we should have a chance to draft one of these three PG's- Lillard, Teague or Marshall.

All three have good size for the NBA point guard position

Marshall 6'4" 180 (20 years old)

Lillard 6'2" 185 (21 years old)

Teague 6'2" 180 (19 years old)

Lillard and Teague are expected to be good NBA athletes and defenders. Marshall is a below average athletic prospect with very limited defensive potential.

Teague and Lillard are scoring PG first that have learned to efficiently run a team by moving the ball. Marshall is a instinctive passer, great passer.

So who fits the best with our team going forward?

Let's assume that in a couple of seasons Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter are starting.

We have two post threats (Favors,Kanter) and a very good P'n'R big man (Favors). We have two wings capable of running a break and finishing on the break. Also Hayward is a good secondary creator in the half-court.

Unless Burks and/or Hayward greatly improve their outside shooting it will be very important for our PG to be a 3pt threat.

We have also seen what happens when Watson-not an offensive threat- is on the court. We have also seen what Tinsely's vision and passing can do for the team.

With so many scoring options a pass first guard would really help get the ball to our scorers in the right spots. But our guys are good enough to make good things happen on their own too.

Defensively Favors is a very good help defender. Both of our bigs are good hedgers on P'n'R's. Burks is quick enough to guard some point guards and with some more experience could learn to play a step off to take advantage of his length.

So to me it looks like we should be able to cover for defensive weaknesses. We need a point guard who can shoot the 3. We really could use a great passing PG but we have enough weapons to get around that.

IMO I think Lillard is the best fit because of his shooting, defense and low turnover ratio. Teague has the most upside. Marshall would turn us into an offensive juggernaut but a much softer defensive team.

History says at least one of these guys will be a bust. But from here it looks like they all have a good chance to be at least rotation players.

Why is Teague on the list? He has been better lately, but I still don't seem him being a difference maker as a starting NBA PG.

I still don't see the need to draft a PG in this draft. If this draft had some elite PG prospects, then that would be a different story. I just don't like the idea of drafting a PG because we need one. I'd rather draft BPA, and then address the PG issue via free agency (we're going to have loads of cap space) or trade (plenty of moveable pieces).

I somewhat agree, but would like to trade Harris for the opportunity to draft Marshall. He is the only pg in this draft class I trust right now. Also not sure why Teague is in the mix on this.

I guess I am much higher on Teague than everyone else. I see good defensive ability, elite finishing and driving skills. IMO he has sacrificed his game for the good of his team.

I don't have well-thought reasons for this, but right now I like Lillard. I think he'll be a good shooter from deep, and I think he has the swag that would intensify the killah instinct that is within each of the young guys. If he doesn't end up as the distributor we need, then there will still be a place for him.

Doesn't every lotto/draft thread eventually converge to a Marshall vs. Lilliard debate?
I'm Marshall until I see that Lilliard is much more superior athletically than Marshall based on combine measurements.
Scott Machado got some nice praise from NBA.com's article on PG prospects. I wonder about him....he has the upper mediocre of both Marshall and Lilliard.

I want a fully realized Favors. Marshall can help make that happen better than anyone we can hope to get through the draft or free agency. Marshall all the way.

I would like Marshall for the above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ mentioned reasons, but I wouldn't be heart broken either if we end up with Lillard.

only looking at 3 min highlights of each and espn stats,
i would say Lillard,
normally i dont like to draft the elder players in drafts, but this time i like him better than the other 2.
Marshall doesnt seem like he has much upside, he can be something like a beno udrih at most in my opinion, his only upside is passing nothing else.
Teague is very athletic talented explosive player, but he only passes at the finishing move, he seems pretty selfish, not type of the pg i would like.
Lillard is not gonna be something like paul, deron or irving, but he seems like he would be a very good fit if he improves the passing aspect of his game. He has very good hands, he is a talented guy, and i would definitely pick him over the other 2.
