Best smart phone

played around with one in the store, and have extensive experience with the OS. absolutely love it. any particular questions?

I've only ever had anroid phones made by samsung and HTC. Thinking of getting this phone this weekend. How is the build quality with nokia? and how do you like the OS compared to android/iphone? Any complaints with yours?

build quality with nokia is generally fantastic, usually extremely durable, although they are branching out with the 928. it's made of aluminum (like the recent iphones) as opposed to their traditional poly-carbonate, so i cannot vouch for this particular version. one issue with the build quality is dust buildup in the ff camera, that should be resolved in the new version though.

os is fantastic, i love using it, although i do have a few qualms. firstly, the design is top-notch, completely fantastic. supposedly ios7 has even been influenced to the point that their whole redesign is based on the one word that describes wp: flat. lock screen integration is fantastic, i donno how i EVER used a phone without it. however, i don't like that there is no notification center, no easy way to turn the phone to silent, can only toggle between volume and vibrate or volume and silent based on whether your vibrator is turned on (rumored to be fixed in gdr2 update mid-june).

love the "customizability" of the home screen. different from how you customize things on android, but i love the live tiles and the configurations you can build. the biggest complaint is that the app selection is generally weaker as it is not a priority os for developers, but there are still tons of quality apps. i think there is a wp app for android that looks at all the apps on your phone and determines what level of equivalence you would have on wp.

gimme a list of your "must-have" apps and i will let you know if this issue will also be a problem for you.

banking apps are actually one of it's weakest areas. app selection might be a drawback for you. there is chase banking app, but no macu or capone. they do have fantasy apps for all sports BUT baseball, which sucks. however, it's really easy to set up easy mobile access to all those things there aren't apps for. i actually prefer mobile browser versions over some apps.

i would do this by pinning m.macu.com onto my homescreen

but you may want to consider a different os!

i could live with that. how's the browser? is it a mobile version of IE? do you have the option to switch between mobile and pc versions of websites?

yeah, you can perma-change that to recognize you as a pc. the browser is mobile ie and i have had a fantastic experience with it, but it isn't webkit based so there are some hiccups. there is a third-party option available called UC browser that is hands down the best mobile browser i have used though!

haven't used opera mobile though, i hear that it takes the cake.

you're warm. I have a VERY good friend that is the lead corporate lawyer handling 'some' negotiations...

not a done deal.. but damn close. These are conversations we have at my house over wine and .. well, wine.

Pinging PKM.

As soon as I read the news about Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia, this conversation came to mind.

Do not tell me this is the deal you were hinting at! If you really did have such intimate inside knowledge, me and you need to become MUCH better friends. :D

When I read that MS acquired Nokia, I said "Holy crap! PKM pointed about this earlier"
