This is a myth. In the modern NBA he whole lottery is videoed and available to the public. Someone posted one of them in a previous thread and I watched the entire snooze-fest. The people conducting the drawing are apparently required to check their personalities at the door. The team representatives sit there like statues the entire time, no matter whether the news is good or bad. If you want to watch it you can too. Just check YouTube. I recommend a caffeine IV beforehand.

I thought it was common knowledge that Kobe and his agent made it clear he wasn't going to sign anywhere but LA. In addition was he even a consensus top guy before that?

Since PKM "will not elaborate" any others have thoughts on this?

We are all given the choice between the reality that their team makes mistakes and therefore loses, and the alternative that the system is rigged. Some choose denial and a "victim mentality" by finding someone else to blame. Regrettable part of human nature.

Try to close your eyes and imagine Mark Cuban keeping his mouth shut while accepting a system where top talent goes to a large market team because it is good for his business. This is just not plausible. People who can imagine that are in victims in denial.

I think they have an advantage In their location and that FA will go there but it just doesn't add up for me.

Every year you look at the lottery winner you could make a case for every other team that could have won it an chalk it up as conspiracy.

Also the fact that there is a billion dollar accounting firm and reps from each team there.

You really think that the jazz, for example would say "you know, we'd love to have Andrew Wiggins here and look at future championships and the incredible following and money this would bring, but nah, we'll let the Lakers have him so we can get revenue sharing.

No way. Wiggins is worth way more to the Jazz on this team than through revenue sharing. The league doesn't have an interest problem.

Im just curious then. If the whole things is fixed why do you follow it? I'm seriously asking.

This isn't like pro wrestling where everyone knows it's fake. It's sold as real competition. So if you are convinced it's fixed why support it.

I'm not talking about black helicopters, or any disappointments in my life so you can save your psychoanalysis for your mother in law.

Mark Cuban has his championship doesn't he? If you believe his stick is about anything other than making money, well then...

Just went back a bit to look at history.

In 2006 the Knicks had the 2nd worst record, celtics had the 7th worst. Leapfrogged by the Lolraptors for the 1st.

2007 celtics had the 2nd worst record and ended up with the 5th pick. Could have had Durant or oden.

2008 Knicks had the 5th worst record ended up with the 6th pick getting Gallinari missing out on Love, WB, etc.

2009 Knicks had the 8th worst and got the 8th pick getting Jordan Hill.

So I guess the Knicks aren't a big market and in that conspiracy meeting in 2007 David Stern said "hey Danny, we could give you one of the best center prospects to come along in a while in Greg Oden or Kevin Durant but we'll give you the 5th pick, I'm sure that will make us more money.

Yes that 5th pick was traded to the thunder in June , but in the lottery in May they fell to the 5th pick after having the 2nd worst record.

I think you may want to remove the tinfoil hat.

There are countless more examples of this but I got tired

I don't know what name you think he called you, but I do know I agree with all of the opinions he's expressed. You remind me of my brother. Every time something happens, no matter what, he comes in with his wet blanket jaded view. I feel sorry for him not only because I believe he is wrong, but also because even if he's right the only result is that it diminishes the quality of his life experience.

With many sports owners it is more about ego than money, in my opinion. Folks can believe that the Lakers have a superior franchise or they can believe that 29 other owners would endorse the Lakers getting the top pick so that they get richer while losing to the Lakers. We are all entitled to our opinions.
