What's new

Billboard vandalized.

I understand that. I just don't understand is why it bothers you so much.

If people just passively accepted that that the intent was to make the USA a Christian nation, and that believ never spilled over into politics and lawmaking, it would still be as worth debating as, for example, incorrect understandings of other historical records, scientific principles, etc.

However, the incorrect understanding is also used a justification for passing laws that many people, some of whom are atheists, feel should not be passed in a secular nation.

Would you be upset if the Obama administration decided to start putting, "In Lucifer We Trust" on your money, your pledge of allegiance, etc? I have a feeling that you wouldn't be a fan, right?

Are you really that dim?

So Atheists equate the concept of God with the Christian Concept of Satan?

Not what I was saying at all. I was just saying it's interesting that BeanClown, as a 'God Fearing American' and devout dumbass, takes issue with people who don't like the use of "God" in governmental stuff, coins, PoA, etc. I wanted to know if he'd change his tune if our coins said something that he didn't believe. I have a feeling he wouldn't like that too much, but you'll notice he didn't bother responding.

Beanclown basically came in, dropped off his usual mind turd, and promptly vacated the conversation.

Personally, I want no mention of God in anything to do with the running of our country and am resolutely in favor of removing any religious imagery from anything that comes from the government.

Its a sad commentary on the state of our country when people are forced to take out ad space to remind everyone fight back against the christian makeovers that the founding fathers and their ideas have suffered.

Oh, okay. I get it. Getting all bothered is going to change Beantown's mind, and start the precious domino effect that will eventually squash christian thinking.

Egg on my face.

It would be "Thank Ego Orb."

Okay.

Look, I don't have any problem with venting. I just don't understand why someone gets so uptight about another person's opinion. Are we not all entitled to an opinion?

I wasn't scolding, chastening, or fault finding. And I don't see anything wrong with Gameface's argument - hence the somewhat snarky comment to OneBrow - I actually agree about the construction of our country and its gov't. I just think it's funny that he can get so excited over a comment by some random bloke, that's all.

In all seriousness, one bloke often carries the opinion of many. It's not just one who believes that. That's why one would get all excited.
