Anyone else hear about the Mohel who has been giving babies herpes in NYC leading to quite a few deaths? Apparently after circumcision felacio is performed on the infant to suck the blood out of the wound. This sounds like something straight from hell. Lots of vile things done in the name of religion. Should be illegal.

Mezizah: By this is meant the sucking of the blood from the wound. The mohel takes some wine in his mouth and applies his lips to the part involved in the operation, and exerts suction, after which he expels the mixture of wine and blood into a receptacle (see Fig. 4, below) provided for the purpose. This procedure is repeated several times, and completes the operation, except as to the control of the bleeding and the dressing of the wound

The Orthodox Jewish tradition known as oral suction circumcision reaches back to biblical times but it has created a modern-day dilemma for New York City health officials, who have linked it to 17 cases of infant herpes since 2000. Two died and two others suffered brain damage.

There was a push to make this illegal a year or 2 back. Then there was "you're an anti-semite if you don't let us suck on it" backlash. Truly repulsive

They should just ban circumcision. If you decided to cut any other part of your newborn's body, child services would get involved. Not foreskin though, because it's "tradition."

lol, some of you did not know about it? They tried to outlaw that in some European countries long ago only to hear bunch of Jews cry anti-Semitism and that it is their sacred right to practice religion the way they want. I just think any religious rituals involving mutilating human's body without consent should be outlawed - period, enough with barbaric rituals, it is 21st century people! Since babies can't do it - circumcision for religious purposes should be postponed until person is 18 years old and can give you informed consent.

Not necessarily. I've seen some fairly young babies with pierced ears.
 
Circumcision is plain wrong, especially if it's performed without the parents' consent. It hasn't been proven to bring any benefits whatsoever. The foreskin is there for a reason, all animals have it. This disgusts me to such an extent.

Don't have any kids but if I ever did no doctor will be cutting anything off of my young guy's body or I'll cut that doc's ****in' balls off. Let alone orally suck the blood out, for **** sake.

I did not circumcise my son. Right before he was born we were kind of researching it and saw how it can easily be botched, how the person doing it usually is not very qualified, and how there really are no benefits. So we decided to not do it. The Dr also told us its about 80% of Utahns get circumcised and in other states like Oregon its the exact opposite only like 20% do. So why do something thats fairly risky and is absolutely unnecessary. His little weener looks hilarious by the way. Like an elephant trunk.
