Bold Prediction on Kanter

Burks:
Realistic case: A cross between Corey Magette and Evan Turner
Best case: Dwyane Wade past his prime/older days

Hayward:
Realistic case: Between Mike Miller and Hedo Turkoglu
Best case: Manu Ginobili

Favors:
Realistic case: Tyson Chandler
Best case: Somewhere between a younger and rawer Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler

Enes Kanter:
Realistic case: A more athletic, smoother Nikola Pekovic/Zach Randolph
Best case: Karl Malone past his prime/older days

I think that hayward is already better than mike miller ever was and probably about as good as hedo was, so im confident he will pass up his "realistic case".
The other comparisons are pretty good..... although i think there should be a different best case for kanter. (i dont know who though, so i guess malone works as well as anyone.)

Agreed.
So Burks is the next Micheal Jordan.
Kanter is the next Hakeem Olajuwon.
Hayward is the next Larry Bird.
Favors is Wilt Chamberlain.

Corrected:

Burks = Magic Johnson (MJ didn't play PG)
Kanter = Karl Malone (he'll be with Utah for 18 years)
Hayward = LeBron James (Bird didn't have the athleticism to get a chase down block)
Favors = Bill Russell (sorry, but Derrick will never "score" like Wilt, especially off the court)

I like the switch for Hayward to Lebron. I should have thought of that. But I think Ill stick with Jordan for Burks until I can think of something else. Magic wasn't an acrobat player like Burks and Jordan.

Didn't really think it all through in my orig post but yes, I like this more except Burks is MJ. It's insulting to Burks to compare him to Magic.

Kanter will make his first of many allstar appearances next year. The 2013-2014 season

I think he goes into the offseason and kills it in the weight room. He comes back with an even better physique next year. He works even harder on his game. Forces Ty to start him, and its no looking back from there. I predict he averages 20 and 13 next year.

What do you think. Have I lost all my marbles?

Am I just being over reactionary to one game?

A bit. I still worry about his explosiveness a bit. If you could somehow get Favors' explosiveness into his body I really think he'd be a legit MVP threat down the road.

On the other hand his footwork is pheonomenal for such a young player, and all the skills he seems to have look like they will improve with age. He should have a very bright future ahead of him, and I won't be shocked to see him make an all star game or (more importantly) a few all NBA teams down the road.

Better explosiveness would make him a HOF instead of a good or very good player.

I think he has Star potential. In order to make the next step to the Superstar level, his explosiveness might hinder him. Add his good but not great length, too.

Anyway, you can't have the whole package. Those kind of players come a long every 5-10 years.

I think he can become a top 3 Center in this league. He already is a double double guy if he got 30 minutes per game. He is still very young.

The guy is actually a PF or C-F if you will. Let's face it. He was always played at C because of his strength.

Exactly. Kanter likes to bang, is a bruiser and very physical. Imo, Favors should be our Center and Kanter our Power Forward.

I think they play Kanter as a Center because he is more physical and plays 'bigger' inside as Favors.

I think Kanter can be more dominant at the Power Forward position. He creates more mismatch problems there. He is quick and strong enough to overpower and outplay any Power Forward. On the defensive end, Kanter can defend the bigger, heavier and slower type of players.

This and hell I believe he will be a triple threat some time in his career as soon as he is given the full responsibility to give team their win.

Yep. I still don't get how a player that is as strong and bully and big as him can have such a soft touch and shoot from anywhere. He might not become as good of a shooter as Kevin Love is but still, he might become one of the best shooters at the Center position that also can play back to the basket in the post. Offensively, there is nothing he can't do right now and he only will get better.

Thats why I think he can become really good. He is an excellent shooter. I don't think we have seen anything yet. Once he gets some consistent time on the floor and work with a pg that can run the pnr with him, we are going to see him draining those mid range shots like Karl and Boozer. I think he just being held back right now. He is going to have a lot of 30 + ppg's, because he is going to catch fire on those.

I was for sure that you were going to say use your time travel evidence to go back and win rookie of the year!!

I predict the Jazz resign Big Al for the max and Kanter sites on the bench for the next three years and only sniffs 10 minutes a game.

Yeah, I could just be being nit picky at this point. I still think he has quite a bit to learn, but I'll be damned if I wasn't just super impressed with his foot work and his natural ability on Friday.
