Bold predictions for 2014 Draftees

Cy has already stated that Otto Porter will be better than anyone in the 2014 draft. Its in the 2013 thread.

After being drafted by the Jazz Jabari Parker proclaims that he does not like green jello. Mormons turn on him and demand that he is traded.

Maybe not so Bold, but...

I think the draft goes..

1. Wiggens
2. Parker
3. Smart
4. Randle

I think all of them will be Allstars

Looks likely

I'll say Embiid before Randle. In fact, I'll say Embiid goes before Smart.

Here's the thing with Parker--people don't really have to respect his athleticism. So what they'll do is crowd him and force him to put the ball on the floor, where he's not as high-percentage a finisher. Parker is primarily a pull-up jump-shooter, and he's often forced to take tough shots. If Parker plays off of a big who commands a double-team and a guard who can break down the defense, then he's ideal. But I don't think you can build an offense based primarily on Parker. It's like Paul Pierce who looked great when he had KG and Rondo on his team, but he couldn't win without them.

As for Wiggins, he has such elite athleticism, that every defender has to guard his drive and he'll have enough space to shoot a jumper any time he wants. That's the difference between he and Parker.

Randle, Embiid and Exum are very likely to be more impactful pros than Parker. Although, Parker could be the college player of the year.

We trade for another lottery pick.
GSW wins the balls and we pick;

1 (GSW)
2 (OUR own)
7 (the other get)

We take Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid.
Sign CP3 to max deal.

Rock;
CP3/Burke
WIGGINS
HAYWARD
PARKER
FAVORS/EMBIID

Win 6 straight titles and the Miller's move the franchise

To STG.

hmmm. Interesting assessment. I think you underestimate Parker's handles and speed though.

Parker is more Carmello than Pierce. His offense is unreal out of college. There is a reason Coach K is using Parker how he used LeBron, and it isn't because Parker is limited or can't carry a team.

Thats way out there.

along those lines... its more like this..

Jazz have worse record, get second pick. Draft Parker. Golden State finishes 18. We pick... to be thought about more. Jazz dont trade for another pick in the first round.

Here are my crazy predictions:

Kansas, Oklahoma St, Kentucky, and some mid major with a ton of seniors make the Final Four (or Arizona).
Duke loses on the sweet 16.

Utah has the worst record in the NBA...and gets the fourth pick.

Sac gets the #1 pick (their reward for not leaving Sac)
New York gets #2
Milwaukee gets #3,
Utah gets #4

Sac takes Wiggins
New York takes Randle (because they already have Parker in Carmelo)
Milwaukee falls in love with Smart's leadership and winning attitude and take him #3
Parker falls to Utah.

GS doesn't make the playoffs, especially after Memphis and LA get their acts together. PHX goes all 2003 Utah Jazz and finish 41-41, just outside of the playoffs. Shabazz finds his role next to Rubio and Love, and Minnesota goes on a tear to end the season. Same with NO. Their wings get hot, and they make a push for the playoffs. GS ends up with the 8th pick in the draft. The Jazz trade Kanter with Boston for their pick and draft Embiid.

Now have this talent at their disposal:

Burke, Neto
Hayward, Burks
Parker
Favors
Embiid, Gobert

That would be awesome. Great rim protection, ball movement and decent shooting.

I also forgot that we would still have our GS pick with that scenario. Ha ha. Let's just say we screw Boston over big time, give them #8 and Kanter, and they give us Rondo and Embiid. They go full tank mode. Ha ha.

Parker ends up being a closet gay, shocking and saddening all the mormons on the board. He moves into a "survivor" type scenario with Amaechi, Collins (both of them), and Marv Albert.

Wiggins ends up being the energizer bunny with no discernible skills at the NBA level.

Randle has beast moments, but also takes time out to eat a ham sandwich while his man strolls to the basket far too often.

This.

Jazz get a high lottery pick, they use it to draft a player that plays the same position as another recent high draft pick. The pick gets used sparingly and inconsistently in his first two years prompting all of Jazzfanz to propose ridiculous trades just to move the guy.

Jabari is coming to Utah. The spirit confirmed it at lunch the other day. He will play for the jazz for a long time. Karl Malone 2.0, but like a point guard Karl Malone who is a power forward.
