Boris Diaw Traded To Jazz (news, not just proposed trade)

meh. I thought we let Booker go to give more time to Lyles. If we add Diaw, then Lyles will get no more playing time than he had last year, because I just don't see Diaw being happy as the 4th big.

If he joined the squad, wouldn't he already be the 1st big?

Disagree. Lyles is getting more minutes no matter what. We let Booker go because we wanted our fourth big to be a better shooter.

Diaw is 33 years old and averaged 18 mpg last year. He and west had same minutes as the 3rd/4th big.

And why does Diaw have to "fit" beside Lyles? Rarely does a team play all their subs at once, Stagger substitutions and 2-3 starters should always be on the floor.

If they suck on the floor together, that ties Quin's hands on line-ups. If favors gets hurt and you now have 3 rotational bigs, and if two of whom are terrible on the floor together, I'm sure you see how this might be problematic. I'm sure you've hear "versatility" from QS and DL a few billion times.

Not concerned about the weight. Rudy will have him playing with fire. But the espresso machine probably kills the deal. Millers can't have a heathen influence on their team.

The Spurs were so concerned about his weight that they pay him $500,000 per year to keep it below 254 pounds.

I think when people were talking about a shooting big we kept thinking of the Meyers Leonards or other guys that need 15+ minutes a night. We are giving 25 minutes a night to Lyles this year and Rudy and Favs will play the other 30+ minutes available at the PF/C spot. I think we also go small at times... whoever we get is going to play 10-15 minutes on SOME nights depending on matchups. I think we just need some variance... some nights Withey will be the fourth big other nights player X will be that person.

Diaw gives us some variance and while the weight is an issue he might teach our guys a few of his old man moves... He would be the best passing big man we've had in a while. I would think he'll be motivated next year as he is essentially on an expiring deal.

A little bird told me that both Hanlan and Brock Motum may figure in the Jazz regular season plans. Then played on the same team in Europe and they won their league. If true this would mean some trades or waiver wire stuff. Motum would make sense as it would let Trey be the main backup big. The Hanlan thing baffles me.

Told yall it would happen

Jazz sent the rights to Olivier Hanlan for Diaw.

It's on twitter but I cannot link to that from here.
