Building blocks, my thoughts on the direction the jazz should take.

There was so much excitement to start the year because of the 1-14 start. I think a lot of us thought we were guaranteed Parker or Wiggins, but since then the jazz have won around half there games, and will probably end up in the 5-8 pick range. We will probably end up getting a good, but not that game changer it takes to get a championship.

Been thinking of the direction the Jazz need to go in, and by that I feel we need at least a top three pick. I figure we would do best to get a wing like Wiggins or Parker. We already have Favors locked in for 4 years, and Kanter, and Gobert, who is showing some serious potential as a rim protector, and think he could net us 10-12 points a game on put backs and developing at least one go to move.

I presume Burks should start next year, and with him and Hayward in the starting lineup, do we really need a pg. Burks would provide the scoring allowing Hayward to be the main assist man hitting an occasional three or slashing to the hoop, then if you add Wiggins or Parker that's a hell of a starting lineup if we get Wiggins start him at sg letting Hayward be the point forward, or if we get Parker obviously we just put Hayward at sg.

Four of the 5 are above average defenders with Burks as an average defender, but with plenty of offense.

So obviously the two odd men out are Burke and Kanter. The jazz possibly have the assets to move from 5 to 3 in the draft, presumably allowing the the jazz to pick either Parker or Wiggins.

We have three great assets to trade into the top three from just outside that spot in Burke, Kanter, and the gs pick

I don think this is perfect. Obviously the team we would trade with has to have a need at pg, and hopefully a big need at the C position.

Again with Burks and Hayward do we really need a pg in the starting lineup? Also if we get Parker, he would add to that. Also we get rid of two guys that would be looking for big pay days in the future.

I like Burke and all, but I'm not sure a 6ft scoring pg is going to help us win a championship. In my opinion Favors is a better player then Kanter, and Gobert could develop into an elite rim protector and rebounder. If we get Wiggins or Parker, we don't need Kanter's offense.

Time to stop dreaming of Wiggins and Parker. The FO and coach Ty spent the off-season gearing up for the great tank-off.
Since then they have come across lukewarm. Perhaps the lack of ticket sales has caused them to flinch.

Regardless... the real question is this; If the Jazz take the role players we currently have, add a pick like Rodney Hood or Jermai Grant, use our cap space to pick up a free agent where will we be next year? In the FA market we will never get the tier 1 FA's (Lebron, Duncan, Dirk). So, will a draft pick around 8-12 and a free agent like Shaun Marrion/Paul Pierce/Luol Deng be enough to get the Jazz into the second round of the playoffs? Or are we doomed to mediocrity?

All he's dong is bringing up the ball. Hayward would work as the assist man And playmaker with Burks and Parker or Wiggins being the scores.

Once again for the thousandth time. Jazz play Lucas for 30 minutes, top 3 worst record, if they actually play Trey Burks, not so much. Trey has come along better and faster than anyone but his mama would have thought. There is no coaching tweak, trading of Jefferson, moving of Marvin that is going to automatically put us in the 1 to 3 range. Only playing large minutes for Lucas and Benching Burke. That's it. It's how we got to 1-14. Does anyone advocate sitting Trey on the bench and playing Lucas for 30-35 minutes? Anyone? Can you imaging the joke we would become?

I also don't understand why anyone is in such a hurry to trade Trey. Sure all the good teams have a good point guard, but if we trade Trey, we don't. If you have one, hold on to him like gold until you have two. Then you can worry about trading a good point guard.

The only three tradable commodities that we have right now that we could get value for are Favors, Burke, and Burks. Everyone else we will get short value on because of their contract situation or rawness. Anyone want to trade any of those three?

I see no reason why, if we draft well at where we are currently slotted, we can't be better than the Warriors next year. Yes it is nice to have a superstar, but if you match a superstar on superstar salary and screw up 1 or 2 large contract you get the New Jersey Nets or the Knicks. Having a solid number of great players on fair contracts is going to do more than it has in the past because of the tightening salary structure. There will be more Indianas than Miamis. Don't get caught riding last decade's trend.
