Burke shooting the most and poorly,whats changed

I don't even think the 42 and 36 that dala optimistically hopes for is very good.

Ty Lawson averaged 43 and 36 last season. Jeff Teague averaged 44 and 33. Kyle Lowry averaged 42 and 38.


Not sure what you expect, really. PGs averaging around 43 and 36 on decent amounts of attempts is more than fine.

based on something called player improvement.


I know, it's nearly impossible to imagine players improving after their rookie NBA year under head coach Ty Corbin-- but you gotta try to work with me here.

Maybe it is good for a point guard.
Those numbers just don't seem that good to me.

Burks is considered by many to be a poor shooter and he was about there from 3 and better from the field.

Maybe Burks is just a better shooter than he gets credit for and those are in fact good numbers

Reminds me of a point in the game when Boone tried to make the same point. Something about when Trey is playing well, the team does great. I was just waiting for him to follow up with Burke's points and shooting stats. Awkward pause, then change of subject.

Actually that was the case last year. Corbin was so bad, we had no offense to speak of, so letting Burke 'do his thang' was a good strategy and we did win quite a few games when Burke was playing.


This year, however, with Quin at the helm, there is an actual offensive system that seems to be working and it seems to me is less reliant on the PG doing everything himself.
 
Not sure about the real one but the Trey in 2K is the worst player ever! He gets blocked every ***** single time!

As a rookie, Trey Burke averaged 1.9 ppg off drives & Jazz got 5.9 ppg off Burke drives. So far this year? More than double that: 4 & 12.

Team PPG on drives leaders: M. Ellis & T. Evans (15), B. Knight (14), Ty Lawson (13.5), Burke, Harden, Tony Parker & Elfrid Payton (12).

And this is all when his shot is not falling. As long as the offense gives him some open looks, his percentages will go up. There is nothing wrong with his mechanics.

Thanks - good post. Burke has just added a whole dimension to his offensive game and some folks are ready to give up on him.
 
I don't know what to say to any Jazz fan that doesn't see the vast improvement in Trey's game. His shot isn't going down, but any knowledgeable fan should know that comes and goes for even some of the most prolific shooters. However he's has been better at two area that show up every night. Driving to the rim and defense. 3 games are far too little sample size to draw the kind of conclusion people are drawing.

And his defense is on another level so far this year. But people will ignore it because they want reasons to rout against Burke because he doesn't fit their narrative of what a good PG is.

Come on. People were ready to proclaim Parsons was better than Hayward after ONE game, so three games for Trey is plenty. You only need a couple of games to know everything you need to know about a player.
