Burke shooting the most and poorly, whats changed

It's just 2 games so I don't read much into all of this stuff but here are some early interesting stats.

His shooting:

- Burke has taken 4 shots in verly late(4-0 sec) shot clock situation. That's 13% of his shots. Not that much. So please let's not act like he is just taking shots because nobody else does.

- Burke took 15 shots with 3+ dribbles. That is 48% of his shots. He took 6 shots wih 7+ dribbles(19%). In comperison Alec had just 2 shots with 7+ dribbles. I don't think Dr. Q likes that at all.

- 9 of his shots were with very tight(0-2 feet) defense on him(29%) and 12 shots were with tight(2-4 feet) defense on him(39%).

- one actually great thing is he had 11 shots within 5 feet and less(35%).

His passing:

- Burke had five passes to the 3 point line which could have been assists. 2 of them found their way in to the hoop. So that's 40%. Which is an adequate number.

conclusion:

Pass the damn ball more and stop shooting that much. Our sophomore PG shouldn't have the most stots in any basketball game.
Very cool stats

He also gets the ball passed to him more than any other player, so he appears to be asked to handle it more than anyone.

Edit: He actually had 11 passes to the 3 point line and 6 of those shots were good. So more than 50% which is really good.

why 4 sec? how about 6 sec? 7 sec? many times when you have under 7-8 sec player tend to pull a trigger when there is nothing there. you force pass for the sake of just passing than bad things happen. trey doesn't have great creativity yet, so it's better to pull a trigger than just pass to the next guy. we all know trey ain't john stockton creating shot opportunities for others in every position.

anyway the whole stat you just posted - stupid stat if you ask me. trey took 15 shots and 16 shots. that's not alot by any stretch of imagination especially when he took it to the rim alot. if those were all jump shots then yeah, tone it down a little. but not when he penetrates alot.

we should worry if trey takes more than 20+ shots regularly. but not when he is taking 15, 16. that's retarded.

last 5 trey's games (3 preseason 2 regular season)

shot attempts
15

15.2 attempts so far. last year 12.8

we want trey to take more shots than his rookie season. 15 attempts are perfect for him. he isn't PG PG. trey is most effective when he is aggressive offensively.

Leading the team in shots is not ideal imo.

Edit: unless he is making them with a good shooting percentage

I want to know who we is.........The kid is under 6' tall ,shot poorly last year and has started out shooting poorly again and this is against Patrick Beverly and Jameer Nelson...bottom tier PG's in the NBA.
I highly doubt fanz here want Burke shooting 5 more shots a game than his team mates.
I think fanz want to see passes that don't bounce off of Gobert's knees, see some passes that get Kanter some easy baskets .These are passes a PG does to his big men to get an inside game.Passes a Rubio can do ,a Rondo can do ,a CPaul can do ,a DWill can do....I can go on....

Trey is almost perfect running the PnR. Any passes he botches up I would blame it on the big, instinctively. He is now attacking the rim and has already upped his FTA by 1. I think that will go up a little bit as the season goes on which should help him gain confidence and have a more balanced game. He also improved his 2pt %FG by %5. Let him find his 3pt shooting and we have ourselves a very servicable starting PG.

Next step for Trey should be drive and kick/dime game, search drives where he breaks defenses(he has good enough of a handle to keep the dribble alive) and add some nasty on defense.

Patrick Beverly is quite possibly the best defensive PG(if not best, in top 3 for sure) in the league...

Why? I would rather see more assists.

This is a terrible assessment tool. Can Trey pass it and shoot it at the same time? If you want to say he isn't passing the ball enough that's one thing. Saying he should have more assist is kind of a ignorant complaint.
