Burks 4 year $42 million extension!

I didn't see this posted here. It seems like the contract is backloaded rather than front-loaded:

Alec Burks' ext. starts at $9.2 mil - climbs $9.9, $10.6, $11.3 mil - $41 mil total - $1 mil ea yr in incentives @BBallInsiders Utah Jazz

I wonder if we are even going to make the qualifying offer on Kanter? If we do, we won't have any flexibility whatsoever. We'd have 2 million more to spend and that's not taking into account the new rookies we will have to pay(lets say 1 million for second round rookie and, ~3 million for first round rookie), which would send us over the limit.

If you have 2 million in Capspace, you will want to fill that up anyway so you can utilize your mid level exceptions. Being a hair under the cap isn't useful at all. There is another layer between the cap and the luxury tax. Having players on deals that are fair is a flexibility all its own because those players are valuable as trade assets. SO we need to carry every player that we can on a fair contract even if It takes us over the cap.

two years from now we are going to be loving these deals if we have roughly 30 million to chase a star to run with these guys.

He's better than hayward so this is a great deal for is.

Bad deal for Burks. Should have just stuck it out and gotten more money. Hell, maybe we'd be dumb enough to give him the max too.

Love this deal & <3 burks and you too Frank!!!

Was scared when Gordon got his monster contract that Burks would hold out for the Cheese...

Instead he signs a good contract for the jazz and has no opt outs, unlike Gordo who looks to capatlize on the new cap with his opt out!!!

Also show Fish some love people!!!
