Although he's out for the season, Burks is engaging in film studies and off-court activities to make the most of his time away from the floor. "It’s really good that he’s here, that he’s with us," Quin Snyder said. "He wants to be with us. He’s in the film sessions." Burks has ditched the protective sling for his shoulder and expects to make a full recovery before next season begins.

Love Burks and think it's time for a Burks thread. And happy early or late birthday Fish:)

Sounds like he's putting in work and staying hungry, and next year he'll add some needed extra offense to this new identity of defense whether it's as a starter or 6th man. I'd like to see him start next year. Think the presence of the block bros will hide his weakness on defense and give him confidence on that side of the ball

Good to hear that he is as actively involved as he can be. Also good to see him occasionaly behind the bench during games.

So crazy to think that the Jazz are improving this much and that Burks has been MIA.

I've been a critic of Burks. However I like that he is saying this. I'd love for him to come back to the team, be better on defense and a better passer while adding much needed offense to this team.

Who is this Burks fellow you speak of? Ohhhhh, I remember now, didn't we use to have a player named Alec Burks. Or, are we talking about Trey Burke and they just misspelled his name?

Yeah it is pretty amazing to think we'll get him back to bolster our already solid core.

Like op mentioned, I'm very curious to see what his defense is like next year...... hoping that gobert, quin, exum, and the rest of the team focusing on defense will get Burks to focus on defense too.
I'm not worried about his offense

He has some catching up to do. It really is too bad he was hurt this season. The whole team has grown so much since the beginning of the year.

It will take time, but I have full confidence he will figure out his role. I'm really excited to see him play loose and be more aggressive on defense with the Block Bros behind him. He has a great nack for playing passing lanes. Now he can go for it without worrying about overplaying.

Plus, dat jumper is wet as ****. Damn.

Burks went down just as the team was establishing a defensive identity. There is no reason to believe he won't be successful on both ends of the court in QS's system.

I love Burks but this team has an identity now. Core guys Hayward, Favors, Gobert are all good defenders, willing passers with high bball IQs. Gotta add compatible missing pieces. Believe it or not, Exum fits already even with his hideous offense now. Burks does not.

Sure, but right now we are relying on Burke or one of the d leaguers to score in order to win. Burke may be that guy, but my money is on Alec to provide consistent scoring whether starting or off the bench.

Jazz don't nearly have enough offensive talent in their starting unit (or team for that matter) to get to the next level. Burks return and the addition of another talented wing player and PF are essential.

We all have affection for Ingles and Booker; but these guys are cult hero's. They're not major pieces on playoff winning teams.
