It's good to see main stream media starting to notice our rookie's solid plays early in the season. On ESPN's Rookie Watch:

Alec Burks, Jazz
Burks is playing solidly for the Jazz, who are one of the league's best surprises. He's sixth in rookie PER, finding ways to get to the line or make a good percentage of shots.

Enes Kanter, Jazz
After just a few games, Kanter figured out that the best way for him to contribute is to park himself in front of the rim as often as possible and eat up space and rebounds. He has the best rebounding rate in this class and he's playing within himself, not trying to do too much. That he's playing this well after missing so much game action since leaving Europe is impressive.

MarShon Brooks is 4th in the ranking and tearing it up with 15.4 ppg playing nearly 30 min. per game. He's also shooting at 36.5% from 3pt and apparently playing solid defense. We could really use somebody like that on our team.

Burks doing good but I am disappointed in the 3 of the other 4 lottery picks we got these last two years.

I'm impressed by Burks too, but Favors is clearly the one of the four that is contributing the most to the team right now. Scoring, rebounding, defending, forcing the opposition to shoot lower percentage shots from outside, blocking . . .

Only one I am really dissapointed with is Hayward. I think he will come out of his slump though.

Areas of biggest concern for each of them
Hayward - Shooting and confidence
Favors - Passing and footwork
Burks - Playing in control and within the system
Kanter - Speed of the game and inexperience of NBA style ball.

Most of these are correctible with time and hardwork.

Our rooks are doin' more as rooks than rooks usually do, so gotta be happy with that. I'm convinced Kanter looked good enough in camp that Jazz brass decided Okur wasn't needed; Kanter could fill in Okur's minutes fine, and is probably right now a beter rebounder, plus he takes up more space in the paint defensively.

Really don't think Kanter figured this out, my guess is someone wearing a whistle suggested this course of action. And being a young dutiful rookie he is doing as he is told. He's a smart kid.

This is about the success ratio of lottery picks throughout the league, especially during their rookie years. I counsel patience.

Burks and Kanter are playing amazing defense. I am super surprised with their defense. Kanter can manhandle just about anyone on the post down there and Burks is just surprisingly good...I think Raja's been showing him some stuff
