Purple & Blues - Utah Jazz need to make a hard push for Jimmy Butler this offseason

If the Utah Jazz hope to get to the next level next season, then they should be willing to go all out in pursuit of Jimmy Butler this summer, who would be an ideal fit. By and large, the Utah Jazz haven’t exactly been a hot destination team to which NBA players have come flocking […]

Interesting article. Never thought about this. And i still don't think it is very possible to acquire Butler, but he might make us 2. or 3. best team in the league if you hold on a sec and think.

Hayward can go 2 and he 3. Or maybe vice versa. Hood can come off the bench. No need to resign Ingles. Or sign and trade maybe...

Any ideas? Any possibility that he might actually join? And what would you offer Chicago in exchange?

I think Chicago laughs at us if the names Hayward or Gobert is not included in the Trade Proposal...
But I agree with the thinking, you gotta at least try. Like the saying goes, "If you don't ask, you don't get."

I think Paul George would be easier to acquire and he may be a slightly better fit because of his ability to shoot it from outside better than Butler. I think Indiana will trade him this offseason. But my best offer for either would be Favors, Hood, Exum + picks.

They are gonna start rebuilding probably. So our first round pick, Favors, Hood and a future first round pick... We have some assets.

But for sure, Boston has the edge. I hope they get Paul George though. If George and Carmelo moves West, gonna be hell of a competition. It will be hard to get 51 wins just protecting the current squad.

Don't want JB if for no other reason than having to have to hear Bolerjack say "the Butler did it!!!!" 300 times before Christmas.

I'd love it but what in the heck are we going to give them - burks? lyles hood our 1st round draft picks for the next 5 years??

"Jimmy Butler with the bucket"

"Hey Matty, did you know Gordon Hayward went to Butler? Yeah, and Jimmy's last name is Butler. We have to come up with a nickname for this duo Matty"

"You are absolutely right Boler. Let's go to Jazz Nation for this one"

"I'm going to stop you right there Matty, I already have the name. Listen to this: The Butler Brothers."

"Oh man Boler I dont know, we are going to have ask Jazz Nation"

"Matty I have the pulse of the nation. The Butler Brothers it is"

Small price to pay for an elite 2-way player.

I was joking - I'd take Butler in a minute.

And there is a small sliver of hope. I think Butler is wary of going some place where the lunatics run the asylum - he's made comments about The Bulls lacking structure and Hoiberg being too much of a "player's coach". Deep down he has the same work ethic/character as Hayward. He'd probably love playing for Quin.

This is all hypothetical though. I doubt they work out a deal for him to play in Utah but I hope I'm wrong.

We could offer to go back and retroactively forfeit the four games we won against them in the finals in '97 and '98 so they could record back-to-back sweeps. They could also do it because of the Mormons and all.

You'd trade all of that for a 1 year rental of Paul George? The reason they would trade him is because they may lose him for nothing. You don't give that much up for a player on his last year of contract.

Wow. Well done. I could actually hear their voices. The killer B's!!!

Too much. Dwight Howard (in a similar situation) cost the Lakers an injury risk player with potential (Andrew Bynum), a backup stretch 4 with potential (Josh McRoberts), a D-League guy (Christian Eyenga) and a first round pick still several years out (2017).

Based on injury concerns and future contract issues, the Jazz should try to keep Hood and Exum, while actively shopping Favors, Burks, Diaw, Lyles and multiple draft picks to try and land another key guy as well as open up some cap space at the same time.

I'd give up 3 assets for George. That would be my limit.

I more or less agree. I'd go Favors, Lyles (NOT Exum or Hood) and draft picks - not sure how many. . . but I wouldn't restrict them if it seals the deal.

Burks should get flipped for a pick or a contract. Either give the Jazz cap relief, or give them a contributor. Diaw should be used as cap relief for another team. Use that non-guaranteed contract to get more help. Maybe that's where your power forward help comes from.
