Buyout Options

Also heard stuff like Denver wanted OG in 2017 but thought he'd still be available in the 20's so they called DL for a trade-down.
They had done prework on the trade... but it happened when DM was picked because there was the infamous fist pump he made when they told him he was going to Utah. But if I know he’s my guy and I know Denver is thinking about it... I call them before they can call me.

Bender got waived so he likely gets claimed by someone ahead of us in the waiver order. So that’s probably not happening.

No way we sign Bender with Bradley, Morgan and Brantley ready to shine.
I’d be more interested this summer so we can spend the summer working with him... would want two years on that minimum deal though... gotta get some of the upside if we help them progress... kind of a mistake we made with Mudiay imo.

I’m just not sure it makes sense to sign a guy like that when we clearly need toughness. There are plenty of options at the 4 and 5 this summer, many of whom bring some toughness. He’s not one of them though.

Ed’s tough... you get bender for his shooting and occasional rim protection. It’d be a minimum flyer type deal. Wouldn’t be a guy I’d be betting big on, but he’s showed some promise and Phoenix has been such a **** show he might connect some dots in a good development program.

Ed who? Davis?

Yeah he’s tough but he sucks at basketball. We need guys who are good at basketball, having toughness would be good too.
I liked what Trent gave last night... more physical than I thought and clearly pissed DM off. I miss crowder.

Davis doesn’t come across as tough to me and it’s moot because he sucks and doesn’t play.

Do Rich Kelly or Billy Paultz have any off spring. Those guys were tough and did a lot of the dirty little things that made a team successful.

IF you can you absolutely get Bender.

He's 22 years old. 7'1" and shooting 44% from behind the arc this season.

Juwan Morgan is also, 22 years old and 6'7" and not in the same class (or really playing the same position at Bender).
Tony Bradley is also 22 years old, and 6'10" with a 7'5" wingspan and good hands (you keep him as your 3rd/2nd center- Bender's true potential is as an oversized PF).

Bender has touch from outside, a nose for rebounds, and length, and as Frank Layden used to say, "You can't teach height." Also, him and Bojan both play for the Croatian national team. You can play Bender at the 4, and once Phoenix realizes they aren't making the playoffs (hopefully before March 1) and waives Aron Baynes - you pick him up also to play the 5.

Our bench:
5- Baynes/Bradley
4- Bender/Niang
3- O'Neale
2 - Clarkson
1 - Conley/Mudiay

Phoenix has zero reason to waive Baynes... they may want to use his free agent rights in a sign and trade this offseason or bring him back... we can bury the thought of us getting Baynes.
