BYU Basketball Thread 2011-2012

What I really like about Winder is that he is about 6'3", but has a huge wingspan so he is nearly impossible to trap on a press because he'll just throw it over you; when you make him beat you with the dribble, he'll do it and go the full length of the court strong toward the rim.

I really think BYU sweeps these next 3. I've always feared the shoot the crap out of the ball from 3 point range good teams playing BYU, more so than the long and athletic good teams so Baylor doesn't really scare me as much as they should being the #6 team in the country and having a guy that looks destined to be a NBA All-Star leading them.

BYU just crushed Weber State. I will give them a little bit of a pass because they were down one of their best players, but BYU still would have won, and handily.
Now lets see if BYU can even hang with Baylor. I think they can because they are shooting very well, they are playing good D, and they have depth with the bigs. Austin has really come on and played well, and what's with him hitting 3's. That is scary because he's a beast down low too.

I think this team will be very good this year. If they don't make the tournament I will be disappointed.

The roles on this team are settling down. Hartsock is the first offensive option. Abouo and Zylstra are good spot up shooters this year. Winder and Cusick don't get in the way. Davies is post option number two. Rogers is the streaky shooter coming off the bench. Austin is providing great energy and play off the bench.

I am excited to see what this team can do.

If coach K can ever get that Utah team into March Madness before being fired, it might go down as the greatest coaching job in the history of sports. That team is hellishly bad.

For BYU, another solid performance.

BYU played only the 2nd half. Not a good game. Do that vs Baylor, they lose by 25.

Ladies and Gentleman the search for the next Jimmer Fredette is over, and he plays for BYU once again. Pulling up in 6'11" NBA lottery pick's faces from 3 and netting it, shooting bombs way beyond 3 point range, dusting defenders off the dribble, absolutely devastating mid-range game, a stroke that couldn't be sweeter. He has an attitude to boot. I was honestly expecting to be disappointed with Matt Carlino, but Holy **** that guy had an amazing game #1. A bit rusty getting used to his teammates in game situations and with the handle at times, but wow, BYU got lucky that this guy just dropped into their lap.

BYU played a really good game, but so did Baylor.
One or two plays it would have gone their way.
One or two calls and it would have gone their way too.
4 more free throws would have been nice.
Stephen Rogers would have been a difference maker possibly.

I like what they showed. It would be nice if they only lost 2 more the rest of the way. If they make it to the tournament they will be pretty good.
