BYU Football 2012

Stupid stupid stupid... Completely unnecessary.

You want the ball in the hands of your best player. Having the QB keep it is acutally the safest play. However, I think BYU had no clue whether or not they needed to kneel the ball. That is inexcusable at that level. Also, someone needs to coach up Taysom about protecting himself in that situation.

#1 rushing defense in nation. Allowing 8 points per game. I know that's not going to last with the meat of the schedule coming up but dayum.

I don't see why not -

Oregon State:

https://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/204/oregon-state-beavers

9th Passing yards, 106th in rushing, 93rd in scoring.

Notre Dame:

https://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/87/notre-dame-fighting-irish

84th in passing yards, 41st in rushing yards, 62nd in scoring

Georgia Tech:

https://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/59/georgia-tech-yellow-jackets

117th passing, 3rd in rushing, 27th in scoring.

In other words, they aren't much better on offense then what we've faced. The difference is that they are more balanced teams overall than we have played and thus better overall(minus GT). We are going to roll(as in barely beat because our defense is good) Oregon State and Georgia Tech. Notre Dame will be tough though because their defense is really good too.

Regardless, it's pretty awesome to be playing two top 10 teams in the next few weeks.

Injuries on offense have an effect on the defense.

If BYU has to go back to Nelson or rely on somebody like Lark then look for the defensive stats to suffer. It's hard to maintain such a high defensive rating when your QB is either turning the ball over every time he touches it (sometimes deep in your own territory) or completely ineffective. If you don't feel like OSU won't take advantage of 4+ fumbles or that ND won't punch it in if they get the ball on the goal line then you haven't been watching football this year.

Hill was at least a spark.

Nelson is a gigantic liability and Lark? Well... Most likely worthless.

The best teams remaining on our schedule will for sure take advantage of the gimmies that Nelson or Lark will give them.

Hill gone. Weird how this whole Riley/Hill situation is coming down.

Hopefully, Riley learned his lessons.

The only thing this means is that now we get to see Riley playing with a bad back, again.

Well, technically all we need from Riley is 3 wins in the last 6 games. OSU is a possibility with their QB out. ND probably not so much. From there on the defense can win it.

I think BYU will win at home against OSU. I don't see a real chance against ND but Ga Tech we have a real chance of winning.
