Can Neto become the next Steve Nash?

Holy crap! His court vision is insane. His shooting is crap. He reminds me of how that ******* owner of Dallas gave ip on Nash and then he became MVP. Do you remember what he said about Nash? "Why did he not play like this for us". I think Neto is the next Nash he just needs to get his shot down. After that he is 20/11 player.

Too early to tell what kind of player he is going to turn into. I agree that he is an NBA player, but who knows if he will be a fringe starter or what. All I know is that I feel safe when he is running the PG for the Jazz. I predict that he stays and shares the backup pg/sg slot with Mack next season. Players from season 1 to season 2 usually make their biggest leap in their career, that's when we will see if he has that kind of potential.

It's not too early. AllThatAmar declared him the Brazilian John Stockton after the summer league.

Personally I find it offensive to compare a rookie to someone who was great for 15+ years (I got ticked off back when they compared Rubio to Stockton after his successful rookie year.) I think I heard Locke compare Neto to JJ Barea, at this point, that seems more appropriate.

I was going to make a point about Neto being 23 years old and already having played professional basketball, so his 1 to 2 year jump might be different that what we typically see. But Stockton was 22 when he was a rookie and played 4 years of college (vs the one and done point guards we see nowadays.)

Even though I hold Stockton's name as sacred, and get offended when AllThatAmar crowns a rookie "Brazilian Stockton" after three summer league games, go compare just for fun:

Stockton was solid his first 3 years, but didn't come on strong until he was 25 (fourth year.) Nash was 26 (fifth year).

Neto is getting 6 PPG, 2.1 Assists, and 1.4 Turnovers.

I think it's best we wait a few years.

He is 24 years old. This is like his 6th season being paid to play basketball. I think he is what he is, not going to turn into Nash ever.

U do realize Neto leads all rookies in 3pt%, right? He's already a good shooter.

I do however worry about his development next season as I see him being the most likely to fall out of the pg rotation with Mack showing well and Exum coming back.

Why would we limit his ceiling to Nash? He might be the next Steph.

While I'm sure you're right, it bears mentioning that Nash wasn't "Nash" until he was about 26
