Can someone explain why the Jazz waived Perkins?

Sorry to bring up an old topic.

So what benefit do the Jazz get for letting Perkins go? Did they not have to pay as much? I don't really understand NBA salary rules. Is there anywhere I can go that offers a good explanation?

Thanks.

Lets start with what benefit they would get by keeping him. If you can't answer that question, then there is no point to answering why he is let go.

Because currently our 4th big is Jeremy ****ing Evans! We desperately need a back up center.

The answer to OP, it is because he was never intended to come here. His salary is too high, and there is no way to know if he was even interested.

There's only one benefit I can think of by having Perkins on our roster...he could show the young guys what an NBA Championship ring looks like in person. Other than that, he's useless.

Jeremy Evans isn't that good, but he's better than Perkins. Perkins is just awful.
