Can the Josh Howard Experiment Please Continue?

This is quickly turning into Exhibit A: Kevin OConnor is a genius.

Team officials said at the start of the season, that Josh was still very talented and athletic and needed time to get into shape, and then he would take off and be as good as he ever was.

I was never a fan of Josh in Dallas, but he was always a good and dangerous player.

Well, now he seems to have the right attitude and work ethic. He seems to love playing on this team, and his confidence is getting better each game.

I expect to see Josh get more minutes and more opportunities in the offense to shine. The guy is just that good. I could definitely see games like last night as the norm. If that is the case, we become a very good team.

Hopefully at the end of the season, he sees that the Jazz are the team that gave him the opportunity, and he re-signs with us.
Any chance of re-signing him now, while other teams aren't bidding?

Unless the Jazz can extend him now, they will lose him to the Lakers or the Heat.

I f*ckin' hate the Lakers and the Heat.

I love how when something KOC does goes well he is a genius adn when soemthing he does goes wrong he should be fired.

How about KOC hit a nice solid ball with the Howard pick? Guy makes some good moves.

Not sure outside of a couple trolls anyone ever called for KOC to be fired. Link please.

Signing Howard sure looks like a great move so far. Actually though, I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-sign if it goes pretty well for the Jazz this year, especially with Harris here. Of course an extension would be ideal at some point if we don't want to end up paying too much.

The way Howard has been playing I can think of no one better at that price to teach the young wings how to play aggressive winning basketball. I say keep him if this keeps up.

Don't want to go to the effort to find links, suffice it to say that I to have seen whole threads dedicated to firing KOC.

However, just look at the teams that are sucking it up in the NBA on a yearly basis. Also, how many teams are still using the players that they drafted? I am pretty sure it is not that many, so just because the Jazz trade away their draft players, that doesn't mean that they weren't the ones we should have picked.

Going back to the Howard pickup, yeah, he brings an element to the team that we didn't have, and he still plays like an all star, if maybe not quite as long per game.

Most of this board, right after the Hayward pick?

I'm sure your post was meant to be sardonic. But yes, a few "trolls" were vehement in posting "fire KOC" threads with regularity. I think the Williams deal was the move that swung a few votes in KOC's favor. And he had a pretty solid draft in Kanter/Burks. Even if some of us weren't completely sold on the choices, I think we can see why those two were high on Utah's board.

For better or worse, I think we'll now have a fair chance of evaluating KOC. We know of a few personnel choices that were dictated by Larry H. or Jerry. And I'm sure there were quite a few more that were made (or not made) that we never heard about, but were heavily influenced or mandated by Miller or Sloan. I'm betting if Larry were still alive, AK would have been re-signed and Deron would still be in a Jazz uni, with Coach Sloan and Larry trying to make him happy so he'd stick around. However, Greg and Ty don't have the same interest or power. Outside of setting financial boundaries, my guess is KOC is now pretty free to make personnel decisions, as long as they seem reasonable.
