Can Trey Lyles be Our Draymond Green?

True. At some point one of our guys has to take and make a shot, but there will be enough scoring of the floor.

I feel like we're becoming a bit like the Hawks, except that we have the x-factor that is Rudy Gobert.

This ^^^^

If anything, I'd say that the Jazz hope Lyles can develop into a better version of Paul Millsap. Trey is bigger, but I can see some obvious parallels in their style of play. The nice thing about Lyles is that I think he can play effectively with both Gobert and Favors. That's a great thing for your 3rd big. Not sure if I'd put him at the 5, but he has the size to play with Booker and hold up better than Cooley or Evans did at the end of last year.

To be clear, there are probably 8 players they would have drafted BEFORE Lyles if they could have. I think people expecting him to be Draymond Green are probably going to be disappointed. Hell, I'm not sure that Draymond Green is Draymond Green anymore. He is more legend than actual player. That being said, he is pretty good value at the 12 pick. My hope is that he can be developed into a Donyell Marshall who can dominate against bench competition and step into a starter's role when necessary by creating a mismatch at the 3/4 positions. He's not likely to start for us for years, if ever. He is too young and our frontcourt is too good. It would me marvelous if he played well enough to displace Booker, however. . .

There might be 11 guys they would have taken ahead of Lyles. Maybe they liked him more than Turner, maybe more than Kaminsky, but the other 9 Jazz would have preferred almost no question, even Mudiay I suspect. Kinda depressing to think that at 12, they might have taken the guy that was #12 on their board. That said, they did like him more than Booker, Oubre, Portis, Dekker, etc... Hopefully he pans out. I trust DL and the coaching staff, just would have been more excited with a few other players.

It's very interesting thinking of playing Hayward and Lyles together.
We could have 4 playmakers on the floor.

How about a small lineup with Lyles at the 5 and Hayward at the 4? 5 playmakers! That'd be exciting.

BTW Quin said that Lyles is more likely to play the 5 than the 3 for us.

I don't believe it.. but maybe.
I have always liked the idea of Hayward at 4.. so maybe I should embrace Lyles at 5.

I think it will be super exciting! 5 playmakers on the floor, and hopefully in due time all 5 of them able to hit a 3! 5 wide out! That would open wide open lanes for cutters and rolling bigs... damn! I can't wait to see them try this one! In D it might be a bit problematic, but stilll... exciting nonetheless..

You say this like Rudy isn't a playmaker. . .After this year he'll just be known as French Stockton.

I'd feel better about small ball if they had DeMarre Carroll back tbh.

Any of Gobert, Favors or now Lyles along with four wings/guards. Then take your pick between Hayward, Carroll, Hood, Jingles, Burks and Exum. Every potential lineup from that group has some interesting dynamics.

I hear Quin is installing the "Jurassic Period" - one quarter of playing:

PF: Favors
C: Gobert
SF: Lyles
SG: Hayward
PG: Exum

That's one big ********* lineup! Let's see ANYONE shoot over those guys or get any rebounds.
